Thanks for your help. I had emptied the cache folder earlier but just emptied the templates_c dir as well and have the same behavior. Thanks again.

I also tried reimporting the database files myself and didn't get any errors, same exact behavior as before.

Hello all. I'm trying to move my XOOPS site from one web host to another. That in itself turned out to be a nightmare as my site is 5 gigs, but I digress...

Technical support at my new host claims to have transfered all the files from my old host and also imported my database. HOWEVER, they said that the ftp transfer was randomly skipping directories, so anything could be missing. They also said that my old web host used an older version of MySQL and that they had a lot of difficulties importing the database.

I should probably interrupt here and say that I have read both FAQ entries on moving sites.

Anyway, I just moved DNS this morning, and after the update had reached me I tried logging into my site at the new location. The login page comes up fine, and after logging in the main page is completely blank. Opening admin.php gave my my admin pages, but trying to open general preferences to turn on debugging brings up the admin page but the content area is empty except for a small table with empty cells. (The admin page has the menu across the top and side) Looking at the settings for other modules they sort-of work, but all the human readable names have been replaced by their database name/id's, ie the title of Polls now displays "_AM_POLLCONF". I read something in the forums about deleting the cache which I did, and now the mouse rollovers for the menus also display unfriendly names, ie the first item in the system menu is "_MI_SYSTEM_ADMENU1".

Any suggestions? I can't turn on debugging, I've completed the repair on the database as described in the faq, double checked the sites physical path and the database login information, and have run out of ideas. Thank you so much.

Okay, thanks. I'm currently using wf-channel and so far it works great, except when I want to put a channel in a block. Anybody else know how to do that? How to create a custom block that pulls its content from a channel? Or is that the wrong idea entirely? Thanks again!

Hello, I've been looking for literally hours and I haven't been able to figure this out, but I'm pretty sure it's a really easy question. (Yes, I'm an idiot) I would really like to add a channel as a block on my top page like Xoops.org has done with the welcome message. Now, I realize I COULD just create a custom block and type my message there, but I plan on having several other channels (About Us, etc) that are linked from my main menu and I would like to consolidate everything in one place for easier maintenance. This makes sense, doesn't it? Or is there a better way to do this? Thanks in advance for your help, I posted on wf-projects this weekend but never got a reply so I'm hoping someone here can help me. Thanks!

Doh, where's GIJOE when you need him? Last time I had a problem he replied within minutes. Does anybody else know if this is possible?

The faq is at https://xoops.org/modules/smartfaq/faq.php?faqid=261. I would suggest you look at the MultiMenu module by Malaika Systems. (Check the comments for a working download link) I've been struggling to edit/recreate the main menu for the past couple days and this turned out to be PERFECT.

Another solution would be to use MultiMenu by Malaika Systems. (Not to be confused with the MultiMenu by WolFactory) It allows you to do exactly what you're talking about. The only information about I've found is in the faq at https://xoops.org/modules/smartfaq/faq.php?faqid=261. Check out the comments for a little clarification on how to use the module and a working link to the download page.
