Can I just upgrade from Apache 2.0 to Apache 2.2 to solve the problem? (I am using XOOPS 2.2.3 Final and my PHP version is 4.3.4 and the MySQL version os 3.23.58)

Is it possible to upgrade to Apache 2.2 with Xoops?

Hi everyone,
My XOOPS site is having a lot of problems recently. Something is making the apache server keep a whole bunch of idle processes running for no apparent reason. This leaves the server with about 7MB of RAM so it stops working correctly.

1) Does anyone know how to deal with this issue?

2) The server has both Apache 1.3 and Apache 2.0 - how do I know which one it is currently using so that I can try to change the right httpd.conf file?

Thanx! Han

Well, I went ahead and copied the SQL code for "image", "imagebody", and "imagecategory" from the old XOOPS site to the new one, but the images database on the new XOOPS site still doesn't work. When I go to the news module and try to add an image from the image database, the pop-up screen comes but the scroll-down menu to select the images catagory (and images) is just empty. But when I check the SQL code in the new database eveything seems fine and all the catagories and picture names are there.

Does anyone know how to solve this?

Thanx!

Han

Hi everyone,
I presently have a XOOPS site which uses the XOOPS core 2.0.7.1 and has news module 1.2.1 installed.

I have now created a new XOOPS site which uses the XOOPS core 2.2.3 Final in a different directory and has news module 1.44 .

If I backup my images (which are in the root/uploads) and put them in the new site, what part of the SQL code must I import into the new database for the images database in the new XOOPS site to work. (Also, have the colmuns in the SQL (in phpMyAdmin) changed or can I just do a clean dump and upload). I mean have the column titles been changed in the database or will they work fine. Does anyone know?

Sorry about the bad English.

Many thanx for any help given to a learning XOOPS student, once again.

Han

Hi,
I installed the Blocks Admin module and it seems like a cool extra but it hasn't solved my problem. The blocks still disappear when I go into any specific news category. Is there a solution to this or some kind of hack maybe, or is the way to solve this so obvious that I have completely missed it?

Thanks for the help Dana, but I also have a question:

When you say that you don't recommend putting this in a stylesheet, as ALL the images would have this setting, why do you think that this would be bad? Would it not just solve this problem globally to save me from having to repeat the same code in all the images?

Thanks

Han

Hi all,
Quick question:
I am using News Module 1.44 and the latest XOOPS version. I have selected News module as my defauly homepage and have chosen my custom blocks to show up on Top page only. In the older XOOPS version they would still show up when I went into a specific news category, but in the new version (XOOPS 2.2.3 Final) they dont.
This is bad cos it increases the lengths of my news blurbs.

When I make it so that the blocks apprear on all the News module, they also show up on each individual news page - something which I don't want. Is there any way around this?

Han

Hi,
I love using Xoops, but can anyone tell me if there is a way to have a kind of padding or spacing around images in Xoops-powered sites so that the text on the page does not touch the pictures themselves.

I can put line-breaks, but then in FireFox the lines will break at the wrong point.

Is there a way to edit the CSS or something?

Can anyone help me?

Han

(btw: I made a similar post in the Q & A section, but I think this is where I should have submitted the query)
