hmmmm ... thats strange ... about the slow loading. I go to the URL and its BANG ... right there. Maybe your connection to that server has indigestion at the moment or something

PS ... mind you ... when you visited I still had the debug running. Could that have caused a slow down for you??

BINGO !!!!!

Thank you Vaughn ...

I thought I had thought of everything ... but didn't even think of that.

I will remember it next time though ... if it ever happens again. The http://www.greengaybulls.com is an Addon Domain to http://www.gaypei.com. Just never thought the .htaccess on gaypei.com would in any way affect greengaybulls.com. But obviously it does.

Thanks again .. you saved what little sanity I have left

Take care
Peter

I have installed numerous XOOPs version on a number of different sites. But this problem totally confuses me.

New install of 2.0.17.1 RC2 ... no modules yet
MySql 4.1.22-standard
PHP 5.1.6
running Linux

When I installed ... I got the red X's on every installation screen but didn't pay them any attention. It says it installed properly & thats all that mattered. Then I went to the site
http://www.greengaybulls.com

Even the Default theme ... no jpg's or gif's ... although once in a while a banner will show up but most times its just a red x too.

Immediate first thought was the FTP program goofed & transferred in the wrong format. So ... all the themes ... I reuploaded them using 3 different FTP programs. All set to AUTO in the format. Same problem.

My friend (whose site this is) has another site running XOOPS on the same account (it runs & shows perfectly fine ... same XOOPS version). So ... I copied the Themes files (not the default one) from the working site to the new install. No difference.

I turned on the debug ... no errors.

I was going to try to assign the transfer mode in the FTP ... but I have forgotten what the mode is for pics & html. And I had also put into the browser the URLs for the various jpg's & gif's and each that I tried showed up right in the browser ... just not when they are called into a theme.

I have checked to make sure the <{$xoops_module_header}> is included in all themes I have tried.

I am totally out of ideas ... and as I said ... totally confused.

Any and all assistance greatly appreciated
Thanks
Peter

PS the sites working fine with 2.0.17.1 RC2 are
http://www.gaypei.com
http://www.cdnhealingartscentre.com
They are on the same server and no problems

Thank you for your quick response. I am now feeling like even more of an idiot than I was hahahaha

I just read another post that seemed to indicate that I could go right to 2.0.17 without having to download, upload & upgrade to each newer version individually. This will be SOooooo much easier than in the past.

Kudo's to the person (people) who came up with this idea

Thanks again ... much appreciated
Peter

Sorry ... I must be going blind or something.

I am currently running 2.0.13.2 ... and obviously have not been "keeping up" with the upgrades.

I checked on this site AND the Sourceforge site ... but cannot find the upgrades for

2.0.13.2 - 2.0.14 RC2
or
2.0.14 RC2 - 2.0.14

I have no problem finding the FULL versions of each

Would someone brighter than I am please direct me to them.

OR ... there maybe a "one step" upgrade to jump right into 2.0.17.1 RC2 ????

Thank you much ... take care
Peter

Thank you Madfish ... your response is an education for me. I learned a lot from your post

I guess maybe I had best "con someone" into letting me use their PDA for short while ... just so I can view each of my sites myself to see how they are displaying. First I will have to find who I know that knows someone that has one that I can borrow

My biggest problem ... at least with my personal site is ... most visitors have old machines, old OS versions and old browser versions. So I am somewhat limited in how I can modify things.

Thanks again
Peter

Hmmmm ... OK Told you I didn't know what I was talking about hahahaha

So ... how would I set up my site to use the "pda.php"??? When I added the pda.php extension I get "An error occurred".

Thanks
Peter

PS ... Just gave the link a closer inspection. Everything seems to display from the News module ... which I do not use. My pages are as "relevant" now as they were when I posted them. There is no News items that I need to post ... but ... want people with PDA's that visit to be able to surf through the entire site to find the info they are looking for. Is that even possible???

Using XOOPS 2.0.13.2

I have never held one of these new fangled mini hand held computers ... let alone used one. But on my sites stats ... it appears there is a small but growing percentage of visitors that do so using an Ipod or similar.

Is there anything I need to do ... or should be doing ... to make my site more accessible or more easily viewable by these "hand held computers"???

I do not have a "daily updated page" of news or anything ... and do not receive or send any RSS feed stuff.

And obviously I do not really know what I am talking about

Thanks for the input ...
Peter

Thank you both VERY much

Dave_L - your solution sounds familiar. Should have thought of that myself. Guess I am having a "daaaaah" day.

Bandit-X - thanks for reminding me of that post & the actual Xoops-Tips website. I keep forgetting about it. But I have it bookmarked ... again.

I wasn't exactly paranoid about it until a week ago ... as I mentioned in another post.

Not sure if I was hacked or what ... but somehow just about my entire database on one of my sites got deleted. Only parts that were left were the ones of an AMS module & the Avatars ... everything else was gone ... vanished.

Since I am the only one who should have access to it ... I figure either the web host somehow did it (but I can't really see him doing that). OR ... someone got the info and somehow deleted it.

I know from nothing about php or MySQL or what a hacker can and can't do with a bit of "talent".

Just figured by moving the mainfile & database connection info out of the root ... then it should provide me with one more layer of security. IF I can get it to work

Thanks
Peter
