Interesting conversation overall. XOOPS oh XOOPS!!! I have checked out wordpress and i would stick with XOOPS. The thing now is making XOOPS attractive to the first timer. the community has done great if you ask me and those of us here are hooked.

What might help to improve popularity is probably a beginers version for final stable releases. This could include:

1. a real hip theme, u know with jQuery and all
2. as has been stated a content module
3. the WYSIWYG editor
4. a real nice ad of the beginer version

but for the rest I think XOOPS dev should stay as it is. XOOPS is doing great and i wouldnt swap it for Wordpress which by the way i consider a fantastic initiative almost as good as XOOPS.

for those of us that would like to build soccer sites and had done so with XOOPS 2.0.16 we miss the module tpl-leaguestats. It was a real useful module. It would be nice if someone took a look at it and got it to work properly with xoops2.33b and 2.4

You'll need to edit mainfile.php to reflect the changes you have made to get it to work right.

// Physical path to the XOOPS documents (served) directory WITHOUT trailing slash
define( 'XOOPS_ROOT_PATH', 'rootpath/htdocs' );

// For forward compatibility
// Physical path to the XOOPS library directory WITHOUT trailing slash
define( 'XOOPS_PATH', 'rootpath/specialfolder/xoops_lib' );
// Physical path to the XOOPS datafiles (writable) directory WITHOUT trailing slash
define( 'XOOPS_VAR_PATH', 'rootpath/specialfolder/xoops_data' );
// Alias of XOOPS_PATH, for compatibility, temporary solution
define("XOOPS_TRUST_PATH", XOOPS_PATH);

// XOOPS Virtual Path (URL)
// Virtual path to your main XOOPS directory WITHOUT trailing slash
// Example: define( 'XOOPS_URL', 'http://somthingelse.com' );
define( 'XOOPS_URL', 'http://somthingelse.com' );
