Formulize 4 nearing RC1, testers needed

Formulize 4 is nearing RC status. We're aiming for Monday.

It will be really important to do some testing on this release right away, so we can reach full release by later next week.

So anyone who is able to spend a bit of time installing it and double checking things, that would be greatly appreciated.

Especially important would be testing site upgrades. If you have a dev copy of a site you maintain, or you can make a backup copy, and install Formulize 4 there, that would be very excellent. Testing upgrades on sites with frameworks and custom formulize API code, that would be a sweet spot.

Are you using Formulize and IIS?

Hello,

We're on the lookout for people who are using XOOPS with Formulize on IIS, not Apache. Microsoft is interested in helping out with some Formulize development, which is really awesome, and they are also interested in doing a case study on XOOPS/Formulize IIS users. Sounds like you got a solution already, but if you would like assistance with iMenu, we're happy to help. If you make sure the "target" is set to the default (which is "self" I think) for each link, then it should work just fine.

Yes, Formulize will let you create a form, enter whatever data you want, and then search, sort, do calculations, and export the data. It's kind of like a CMS for data, instead of content. You can move on from simple, single forms, to joined datasets of multiple forms and all kinds of fun database-ish stuff, if you want/need to.

Yes, Formulaire is the best choice if that's the only functionality you need...form, send results to an e-mail address, that's all. Formulaire does that very well, right out of the box.

To do it in Formulize, you have to create your form, then you have to set up the notification condition you want on the form (ie: when a new entry is made, send a message to Webmasters, or whatever), and then you also need to make a custom message template that will contain whatever information you want from the form. So lots more steps. Lots more control, but if you just want a straight forward message, use Formulaire.

XOOPS trivia: Formulize was forked from Formulaire 2.8 five years ago.

Just a quick note about Formulize and anonymous users...a recent update in the SVN copy, that will probably go into a 3.12 release soon, improves this behaviour in some situations:

If a form is "one entry per user" and the user is an anonymous user, then instead of getting the first entry that any anonymous user created, they get a blank form.

Also...Formulize sets a cookie for anonymous users when they create an entry in a form, and if they come back to that form, they will get that same entry called back up.

So for "one entry per user" forms, this all works quite well.

I have verified that the cloning process seems to work as expected. I have tried it here on my own machine, and all copies of "imenu" are changed.

Since the clones do not work when they are appearing on the screen together, but they do work when they appear separately, all I can say is, do they have different names?

If you made a two clones with the same name, they could not interact.

The names need to be different.

I'm sorry I can't say more. There is almost certainly a fatal error in PHP, and if you can get your website to tell you what the fatal error is, then this will be easy to track down. You should look up information about how to get PHP to show you all the errors that happen. This is not a simple thing, since many web servers are configured to hide fatal level errors from users.

I am sorry but I don't understand what you have done.

Have you opened the files in a text editor program, like Notepad, and looked in the contents of the files for the text "imenu"? The text "imenu" should not be in the cloned copy anywhere. But I think it is.

I will test this sometime soon and see what I can find in a cloned copy.
