Howdy,

We are having problems with our cache folder.
We getting those random errors (such as "If this is your first time logging in to admin section..")

(the admin.php file is still there. )

Also, it appears our cache folder now has a size of 1 gig!!!!!

Can that be? Something tells me that something is definately wrong here.

Any advice, is as always greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

p.s. : been running XOOPS for several years. currently still using 2.13+
this has never happened before. Our server has also crashed 3 times in the past month apparently..So maybe on restart something happened?

i'd clear the cache folder including admin.php, except for index.php

2ndly, make sure the folder is writeable..

a gig of files in the cache folder does seem an awful lot. check that those are actual XOOPS cached files and not from some other malicious script kiddie using ur cache folder as a storage facility.

your host could have locked the folder if that was the case..

thanks mon!

YEah looking at the files...something musta been up with pical module cache...there were way too many of those files identified with that module in there. Must have been a setting problem. Or something strange.

I was worried about just dumping the files out so I logged in as admin and was on the preferences page (to create the dummy template as I did it. just in case)

It was frusterating because even in site preferences we were getting errors and had no way to update aspects of the site.

The folder took 20 minutes to clear out... musta been a problem with module wide cache settings which sometimes cause problems...

So as a result of the folder size I believe much of our resources were being used up resulting as well in some of our errors of late..So keep an eye out for your cache folder size out there peeps!
