Hi,
I'm a bit hot under the collar, my session timed out haveing spent hours at hunt and peck keyboarding, putting together a text based article to appear in the middle of our home page.

Is there a time to live setting somewhere in the administrator options ?

I notice two cache settings which are disabled.

Thanks for any replys in advance.

regards,
coups

ps. I thought time to live problems only happened in mambo (he he.)

Check your general preferences in admin - I am sure a standard time of 15 minutes is set in cookie sessions (but I could be wrong). Anyway, as a general tip it pays to draft something up offline in a text editor - (notepad) and then you won't need 15 minutes to copy and paste on line. I am certain there is an FAQ which highlights some other programs you can use to develop content with so you don't spend hours on hunt and peck keyboarding. Ytry reading these FAQ's

two

All my docs are prepared offline. Thne I copy and paste or upload depending on the module they are for. This way I don;t have a time out issue. HTH

Thanks for your reply jensclas,

You know you are absolutely righ about off line preparation of large text based blocks.

The standard time of 15 minutes is set in cookie sessions thing has to be enabled it is off by default. It's a seperate option to enable timed sessions of no activity.

So God knows what it then defaults to. There must be a built in default somewhere which comes into play if you don't enable the session time out in other words.

I wonder what the max time out above 15 minutes it will allow an admin to enter is though. I really can't see a maximum of 10 hours (600 minutes) as being too large until a site starts to generate big traffic usage.

thanks.

regards,
coups.
