a lot of the fields now only display if there is data in them to show.. but yes the fields still remain in the submit pages whether templates are edited or not..
if you can wait a couple days or so, i'll write you up a clear 'how to' so you can remove/hide those fields from the submit pages on the current release RC1 & RC2 version which is to be released soon.. (shouldn't be that much different, if different at all to how to do it, other than probably line numbers), at least it will get you by until we sort the options out in a future version.
