Monitor radiation tester. Does such a thing exist?

Does anyone know if you can buy a device for detecting the level of radiation emitted by a computer monitor so that it can be compared against it's specification?.

I have always known that prolonged use of CRT monitors is discouraged and searching the web I can find plenty of research papers on the subject. However I can't find a device that would enable a consumer to run a simple home test on their working environment.

I can find a 'microwave oven leakage tester', I just can't find anything for computer monitors.

Can any gadget gurus out there point me in the right direction?

Thx tabasco. I've since found a couple of 'gauss' testers which test electromagnetic radiation.

I have one suspect monitor in my studio which is about 5 years old and wanted to test it before I replaced it. I confess that if I work on it for any length of time I begin to feel unwell (although that could just be caused by the thought of having to buy a new monitor!)

LOL, If it's giving off that much radiation you'll have a red face

Are you going to go with a LCD? Then there's no radiation.

Yes I'll probably go for a flat screen now. The picture quality is much better than it used to be and the price is better too.

I was somewhat encouraged by the comment below on this monitor reviews website

Thx to Herko's comments I've filed a patent for a CRT with a fourth gun. Mine has Red, Green, Blue and UVA. So now you can work on your tan while you work on your spreadsheet!.
