Ok, I have used CMS' before - but never xoops.

So I saw it in my cpanel under fantastico and thought why not (as the hassle of installing one, which i hate was gone). So I did, and now I cant see where the admon panel is!!! I have tried /admin.php and /user.php - just a blank page...

Any comments would be appreciated

Ok - well i did it manually and it was painless! brilliant. But, after having a very quick glance at the admin panel i was starting to wonder whether its what I want...I understood CMS as a website rather than just a forum - does XOOPS only build a forum? Or is it like Joomla - which can edit link, pages etc...

Thanks guys

The quick answer to your question is yes, XOOPS is like Joomla.... Sort of. They both perform similar functions, they just go about it in different ways.

Yes, you can create your own pages, or install a forum - or pretty much anything that a module exists for.

The best suggestion is to take a look at some other sites powered by XOOPS - and see how they tick.

For example - if you want to build a community site: install a forum (cbb would be a good one.. although I may be biased on that!), a gallery module for people to add their own images, and a news module ... that would make a good starting point for your site.

if you get stuck... please feel free to ask here. (Although many questions can also be answered simply by using the search in the corner)

Great ! Got the modules. A lot better

Was wondering are there like custom modules - like mods avaliable? I wouldnt imagine they are official though...?

Thanks
