Home page loading ... poor performance

Hello,

My home page is very slow to load. I know that I've perhaps activated to many modules onto it, but I'm wondering how I can tune it in order to detect exactly which of the different modules is (are) really the cause of this performance degradation.
I suspect that some of the blocks/modules are really high resources consumers

Is there any reliable method to do this ?


(I would prefer to avoid trying the empiric method)

have you activated cache feature per module ?
see admin/ general settings for that

Also, have you got any stats modules or scripts running to track your users? If so, try turning them off (or removing them) because I had one that delayed my home page loading times by about 10 seconds!

Caching is the crucial thing to check, as Marco says.... it can really make the difference.

the stats is a big deal too... when my site has about 50+ people on it.....hte xmemberstats block kills my sites load time, because of the query it must run on each users IP to get the flag of there country to load.......
