I'm looking to move over from MovableType for a variety of reasons, and am here to get a few quick Q's A'd.

Firstly: Is is simple or even advisable to set up my site so that anonymous users can submit stories/articles/items that admin-level users could approve for publishing?

Secondly: How easy is it to get XOOPS to display multiple modules on the front page, i.e. Polls, News, etc?

Lastly: Will I have an easy time importing old MT entries?

It depends... from your targets, site type, amount of free type...

Impossible - you can easy show blocks from different modules on page, but not "modules main pages" on one page

not sure, but I'm afraid - not
