I'm just setting up a new site (eatingtulsa.com) and so far I've only had a few people register. The first posting in the site was posted in the wrong forum though... Can forum posts be moved from one forum to another, and if so how can I do this? I've read through the site but didn't see anything that related to this... Thanks for any info.

I almost hestiate to tell you this, but I think I did it but looking the SQL tables, and figuring out the forum id of the right forum, and then editing the forumpost table and set it to the forum i wanted.

Now thats probably not for the faint hearted.

but from a admin point of view, none that I know of.

It's possible, but not simple. I did it many months ago, and as far as I remember had to change 5 or 6 links for each message. I did the editing directly with phpMyAdmin.

However, it appears I've lost my notes on how I did it.

I hope another person does have this info, and will post it here. Alternatively, I could try to re-create my notes.

Note to developers: This feature is in demand, and it would be nice to have it implemented in the module.

Thanks. I appreciate the info. If I get desperate I'll just copy and paste the post with an webmaster note to explain, and delete the other one. It might be easier and quicker than all the PHP/SQL hacking... But I think it really would be a nice feature.

You're talking about an individual post within a thread, rather than an entire thread, right?

I think he is talking about only one post.

When I did my hack, it was with several threads of 3-4 posts. It's not so easy, and some kind of interface would be very nice.

Reasons for why people would want to move a post/thread could such as:
1) People post the question in a wrong section.
2) Admin has descided to split the section into two or more separate section and would like to move the relavant threads to the new sections.

I probably won't be able to look at it before sunday evening or monday...

This can be done.

You could hack it based on the part of deleting a stand-alone post.

I think my question was worded wrong from the start. The forum topic was created in the wrong place and I had to move it. In this case there was only one post in the forum, so I just explained what I was doing with a note and deleted the original and reposted the comment to the correct forum.

There's a way to edit or change a Category, but it would be nice if a Forum, or a Topic or even a Post could be moved to another location.
