If it doesn't work what Ghia recommended, try again to reinstall the module, and then uninstall it. If you get errors about tables, it means that you didn't delete all of them.
This is the common issue that I've received when I've deleted accidently a module and then messed up the tables.

I believe, Herve is on vacation, so you might need to be patient.

In the meantime, you can check other modules that are "sports" oriented:

Liga Manager Online 2.2

You can also look into this Sample Module

These modules are pretty old, so I don't know which one is still working.
