You could also use/hack a calendar module like Pical and a block showing the event of the day (in your case the "history notice" of the day).

I am not sure... But I guess smartsection can do the job. You can embed all kind of script (php, html) in articles. It is also possible to convert to/ open an article in pdf. For what I know this conversion happens realtime.

There is no doubt XOOPS could be (mis)used for mlm. Better question however is. Do serious XOOPS adepts want to be associated with scam, lies and thievery

Employee database

I use XOOPS for an intra-/ extranet site in a care institution. I can't find a good employee directory for what I want to do with it. I use Xyp4all at the moment but it misses a lot of features. A usefull employee directory should have following features:

* Uses the XOOPS userbase for primary user details.
* Has the ability to group employees in departments.
* Employees can be grouped in more departments in case of different jobs.
* There is a searchable phone directory using the names and phonenumbers from the employee directory.

And there are more options it could incorporate to make XOOPS a more intranet friendly cms. Who dares to take up the glove?

A hack would be great indeed. I use this module and do not like my intranet users to be able to tamper with their birtdays

Just install the extended profiles module (bundled with XOOPS 2.2.3). With this module you can add users as an administrator. Have fun
