i assume you mean evolved. i have tried a least 15 portal solutuions, including pre, post, and whatever nuke is out there. XOOPS is a portal system or cms as is nuke, but, in my opinion, thats where it ends.

so, for my part, it is not a question of evolution, but rather a workable solution for your needs and i stress workable. simply put, XOOPS is an excellent portal.

not sure what white spaces and nightmares you are referring to. one simply needs to be creative, and XOOPS provides all the tools to be the same.

Those who use XOOPS 2.0.5 and older modules may have experienced that the javascripts are not working.

Solution: Make a copy of an xoops204 version of include/xoopsjs.php and copy it to the include folder of xoops205.

This works for me!

On my site in the includes folder there are 2 files xoopsjs.php & xoopx.js, which 1 is being used in 2.0.5.

The xoopsjs.php is no longer needed now and can be safely deleted

Yep.. I've had this problem for ages too! I use WS_FTP and it works now... thanks soo much. Oh and btw In chmod for mainfile.php you only tick 8 boxes, you need to untick the Other 'write' permission.

Hi -- I have been looking for tools to manage the web site for a pottery studio. I'm a geek by day, potter by night.

I started out looking at the nukes, have tried postnuke and php-nuke so far. Haven't tried XOOPS yet, just looking at the site now. Would it be accurate to say that XOOPS is pretty much an evolved nuke? Cleaner but with the same basic intention: wrap a blank space with some useful goodies. In some cases maybe wrap a tool to fit in the blank space: calendar for instance, and of course news. Pretty much the only evolved tools in the nukes are those for handling news. Great if news is what you need to do!

What I am really missing is the ability to do something more structured in those blank sapces, even if it's just build xslt stylesheets for the content that goes in there. I love the tools in the frame, they're handy and configurable. But the blank spaces remain the same old html maintenance nightmare.

All insight appreciated!

Gary

I'm having the same problem. Only login module showing up and a blank page with the headers and footers showing. Also no access to admin.php after logging in with admin account either.

Fresh install of XOOPS 2.0.5 and set the template_c, cache, uploads folders and mainfile.php with full control (yes, I'm running windows). Running Apache version 2.0.39, PHP 4.2.2, and MySQL 4.0.1 alpha.

Using IE Explorer 6.0.2800.1106IC with Javascript and cookies enabled. One thing different I did was install files into a subdirectory instead of my main web directory, i.e. c:\apache\www\xoops-2.0.5\html instead of c:\apache\www\

Any help would be appreciated.
