Same logon problem here. I get the nice "thank you for logging in" screen but it throws me right back to the not logged in state.
Tested with WinXp sp2 IE6 and FF 2.0.0.6 and in Ubuntu 7.0.4 running FF 2.0.0.5 and Konqueror 3.5.6.
I have cleared all temp files and session entries, but none seem to help. I haven't tested it on another ip adress.

Have a look in the language directory of the modules and you will find what you need;)
Example for the news module, edit the following file:
modules/news/language/english/main.php

Yes sorry David for not mentioning the potential danger the site can and may behold, but after seeing/scanning the movie it looked alright to me.

Dunno about that XOOPS module, but we use a monitoring server with cacti which polls every 5 minutes if the server is up and running (it also monitors the apache and MySQL loads, disk space and alot more via snmp)
The downside is that you'll have to get a second server which performs those tasks.

Can you tell us what theme you have used and perhaps a link that points to the theme.
Blanc pages sometimes occur when the theme doesn't closes his smarty tags for example:

Can I give you a little tip, use a better Subject description to post your problem. Even using CAPITAL LETTERS won't give you more readers.

A better way is editing the news_item.html.
Use :
for title only.
for topic.
Herve has put alot of nice smarty variables into the module, that even aren't active by default. Read the comments in the aricle.php file (of the news module) where he explains what variables you can use.
