Newbbex is a Xoops module, willingly simple, wich allows you to have a forum on your site.
You can visually create an unlimited number of public and private forums, connected to categories and moderated by one or several person.
You can manage permissions with many exactness, as a consequence, you can choose who do what and where.
Topics creation can be, according to your wish (and per forum), limited to a group or be authorized to everybody.
You can give moderations rights to different users for different forums.
Practical to encourage debates, the module is delivered with some blocks so that it's easier for you to manage it.

"Nice look, wanting backend, some problem" I installed this module, after I had some problems with another BBS module. The frontend looks very nice and is easy to handle. Users find their way through, it seems. However, the backend is wanting. I have to make most of my forums private. The forums shall be accessible to all registered users, though. I.e. only anonymous visitors shall be prohibited to look at and be active on most of the forums. However, setting this, is quite awkward. Every new registered user has to be given posting rights to all private forums individually. At least I didn't figure out a different way, like giving access to a group. I would also like more adjustment possibilities. The option to make forums invisible if no access is given seems not to work properly. Anonymous users still can few the forum titles at least, and if they click on one forum title, the one that they have access to closes, so they see only the titles of all forums and do not know into which forum they can actually post or from which forum they can read posts (there should be an indicator for this in the forum title at least). One user wrote a message and was kicked out after 15 minutes, even though the session time is set to more than one hour. |
