"April's Afterthought" for XOOPS & HTML template (commercial item)

April's Afterthought After "The Bind Blog" was released, I saw something else in the big lines of that design and it made perfect sense to release a new theme based on the same idea. "April Afterthought" is a 2 columns theme for XOOPS. The archive also includes the HTML source which can be used to port the template to other systems. HERE you can view the theme installed on XOOPS 2.5 Members can login and download from HERE The design is perfect for blog sites and generally websites that focus on article publishing. It contains 5 color styles (not available in demo), its structure is based on a fixed width tableless design. You can read all about it HERE

Converting old modules to XOOPS 2.5.0 GUI: Tutorial

We've talked in the past about releasing updated “XOOPS Module Packs” for our users, focusing on some basic functionalities of the Website, e.g. Personal Website Pack, Community Website Pack, etc.

We are now working on a “XOOPS Basic Module Packs” and our goal is to modify existing modules so all of them have the same consistent GUI and thus increase the user productivity, especially for the first-time users.

Originally we took the GUI idea from the TDM Team's modules, but while we were working on implementing it, Mage came up with a ModuleAdmin class that generates the whole Admin GUI based solely on the Menu definitions in /admin/menu.php and data in xoops_version.php file - see the simplified diagram:

Resized Image

In order to make it easier for other developers to convert their module to this new GUI utilizing Mage's ModuleAdmin class, I've created a set of files helping with this conversion, and a short tutorial showing how to convert xDirectory (you can download the converted module here).

Files:

1) Tutorial as PDF file: view it here

2) Conversion Files incl. Tutorial as Zip file: download it here

NOTE:

a) This is just a 1st Draft of the Tutorial, so your feedback and improvement suggestions are appreciated. Please help us to make it simple and easy to read and follow.

b) Please also let us know any ideas/suggestions that you might have about improving the Module GUI:

- beginners and first-time XOOPS users: how can we make the GUI simpler and more user friendly for you?

- experienced module developers: how can we make it better? Is this ModuleAdmin class making module development easier for you?

Please discuss the GUI and the Tutorial in this thread.

Alumni 3.01 RC Released

Alumni 3.01 RC Released

Resized Image

I have released version 3.01 RC of the Alumni Module.
This release is for Xoops versions 2.3.3b and up.

I also added the new ModuleAdmin Class by mage, but in my modules I made it so if you are not using Xoops 2.5.0 it will use the standard Xoops GUI.

Changed the search so you can now search by Category/School.

Edited search results page layout.

ADDED showing 1-5 OF X on the first search results page, if there are more than one page.

Broke down the index page. Now there is an index page, a categories page, and a listing page.
The URL's are different. (EX. listing.php?lid=1)

Improved sorting listings

Added notifications

You can now put adsense code or Xoops banner in your listings. on index page and category page.

Tested on:

XOOPS 2.4.4
XOOPS 2.3.3b
XOOPS 2.5.0

Servers:

PHP Version 5.3.6
mySQL Version 5.1.55

EneTeK.se redesign on XOOPS

EneTek.se relaunched today on XOOPS, previously being some sort of online builder about which I won't talk about ;) They wanted something extremely simple but modern and the result is exactly that. Plan initially was to be built on a different CMS but after a more in depth discussion I managed to convince them about using XOOPS. What i loved the most about this, was the freehand i was given to make whatever I wanted from a basic idea they had. Enjoy! PS. My love for Google translate increased dramatically lol EneTeK

XOOPS 2.5.1 Final Is Released

XOOPS 2.5.1 Final Release

The XOOPS Development Team is pleased to announce the release of XOOPS 2.5.1 Final. Several bugs have been fixed as well as security enhancement based on Aung Khant's report.
Please be aware that the bugfix is not complete and 2.5 series will be following small but frequent release rule so that users can take advantage of quick fixes.

This 2.5 series builds on the XOOPS 2.4.x series with objectives of usability improvements instead of architecture or API changes. The system module is updated with a major redesign with jQuery based AJAX, done mainly by ForMusS, kraven_30, Mage with contributions from trabis, voltan, Kris_fr, onokazu etc.
Besides usability, some proof-of-concept experiments have also been proven for module and theme development. Unavoidably there are bugs and incompatibility introduced.
Developers are encouraged to improve the new functions and APIs but not advised to use them immediately in their modules since the they are designed with new architecture in XOOPS 3 (or Xoops Engine).
Developers can check Xoops Engine details at http://www.xoopsengine.org to prepare for their next version of modules and themes.

Download XOOPS 2.5.1 from Sourceforge repository.

Webcams 1.16 - #Webcam #Chat #Rooms for #XOOPS

Resized Image
Webcams 1.16
Webcam chat rooms with free, group and private chat!
Sponsored by iStreaming.com

This was a module I formed over a few days it is a remake of the business example from eSensual Networks which is in the process of re-badging to iStreaming Networks. Webcams allows you to have multisessioned chat rooms with assistence of application software and the hardware data farm provided by iStreaming Networks. You can have free, group and private timed rooms with costage of individual basis. Complete with user pivoting and management of the userbase, this module takes full implementation of the iStreaming API and facilities.

Currently there is payment options with this module, it is freely distributed and you can get test accounts from the company providing the server bandwidth and hardware. We have developed this in conjunction with David from iStreaming which means he has also requested an xPayment option as well which we have included the plugin for xPayment which also comes with Adult billing Options as well.

Resized Image

iStreaming offer a managed backend service for websites that want to provide for their members a high quality broadcast style video chat. Free and pay per minute rooms are supported.

iStreaming service attaches to your existing website via a customizable video chat Player we provide. You can use Flash H264 video and Speex/MP3/HE-AAC audio or Windows Media video and audio.

All billing for your members is done on your website using your merchant account. Our secure gateway API allows you to update, create, and query member information in our database.
