The Friend Finder(Personal add system) is up and running, you can to log in and add your details and you can also upload your picture (max 200x150 pixels or 20kb).
Here are some updates from the change logs I have now in my hand. Sorry for not putting all in details..i'm sure we have made more changes, but the major ones are as listed below.
The new sections module will not appear yet. We have a basic plan already, but not yet actually implemented as php codes. It will probably replace not only the old sections, but hopefully the current web links, downloads, faq, etc modules.
The theme structure has not changed, and will not change in RC3. But this does not mean we will not change it in the future. We do have an idea to use some 3rd party template engines like Smarty.
We may need another 3-4 days for the final testings.
An innovative hack to improve the surf on your Xoops Site
When you surf on a web site, graphics are downloaded at about 4kb/sec from a distant server, then they are displayed. I thought that we could, due to the structure of Xoops that allows theme change, create a theme who would "download" graphics , not from the server but from the hard disk ! So here is this hack that add a field in your profile. You will have to fill this field with the path of the folder where you saved the graphics on your HD. Then you choose the local version of your favorite theme and it's done ! To test it, go on my site (empty because it is not yet launched :) ), http://www.thechater.tk : - Register - Download the graphics pack here- Unzip it where you want, let us say c:/graphics - Edit your profile and, in the "local theme" fiel, give the graphics path, in our example : c:/graphics, then choose the theme that begins by local_ Now the theme graphics are downloaded from your hard disk... Hi there !! I've just created the Xoops Web Ring to get together all the webmasters of the "Xoops Powered" sites all around the world. You can register here I'm waiting for you all...
We've recently integrated Xoops into our PC assistance site that was forum based. I am pleased to say we love the look, feel, and functionality of this portal.
Just to update you all, we are now getting ready for the next release, which will include numerous bug fixes, database optimization, admin interface enhancements, module install/deletion, etc.
Members have been busy in daily affairs lately, and rarely had time to work on the codes, so the update may be of a little disappointment compared to the length of time we have been silent since the previous rc. But I just wanted to let you know that we are still here, and are going to keep on the enhancement and development of this project.
There is no ETA. All we can say is that it will be released soon. We really appreciate all your support and patience.
I have just finished installing XOOPS switching back from PostNuke successfully at http://www.coursapied.com french running site. It seems to be more fast than older. Need to do more tests to confirm before installing my cache system.
