After the initial donator only release of AMS 2.4 last month, AMS 2.41 has now been released to the public and can be downloaded from the downloads section at IT Headquarters and is also available from the module repository here. This is the second public release of AMS, coming just three months after the initial release in December last year and adds several new features, enhancements to existing ones, and several fixes to problems users had reported with the 2.2 release.
I would like to extend a big thank you to OBS and karagos.com for helping out with their financial contributions, which if I had not received would have meant work on AMS 2.4 would not have started until at least mid year. I would again like to thank Mithrandir for his professionalism, and for taking on and coding this project, especially as he took it on just before Christmas. I am very happy with the way AMS has developed, and see it as being a situation where everybody wins. Those contributing financially recieve a module on a regular and timely basis, Mith gets some financial compensation for his work, and the Xoops community at large is offered a quality module if they wish to use it.
NEW in Netquery Version 3.0 GeoIP & Updateable Data Options! See it HERE! Download it HERE! Discuss it HERE!
Version 3.0 of Netquery, the complete PHP/SQL open-source toolkit of network information utilities, provides updateable data installer option paks for ports services and exploits and for its new GeoIP country detection and display feature. GeoIP is available to use with the client data "sniffer" (introduced in version 2.4) for display and logging and also with DNS lookups. The latter permits users to determine the country for which any IP address or DNS resolved hostname has been allocated. GeoIP accuracy is about 95% as some multinational ISPs and proxy usage may produce aberrant results.

Next to using XOOPS for my personal stuff LenoirMind, I strongly push forward XOOPS as a webbased information system regarding projects in my professional activities. These projects typically are international projects funded by the European Commission and theme-wise span a range from Accessibility in the Information Community, eEducation to more technical topics, like sharing results of research and development in interactive music systems.
One key objective of the EUAIN project is the specification and implementation of a XOOPS theme that is compatible with the WAI1.0 specifications. WAI stands for Web Accessibility Guidelines. It is my experience that the smarty template based theming engine of XOOPS, is very suitable for integrating these more advanced formatting/processing requirements into an information system. We made a start on this and embedded some of the WAI1.0 features into a lightweight theme that can be selected in the portal. Please note that in it's present incarnation it is certainly *not* a structural sollution. It is hoped to come up with a structuraly usable WAI1.0 theme during the lifetime of this project.
The XOOPS Core Team is proud to announce the next step in organising the XOOPS project and its great community: The XOOPS Foundation. The XOOPS Foundation (or Stichting XOOPS as it's officially called) is a registered non-profit business organisation based in The Netherlands. Its primary goal is the promotion of the open source use and development of the XOOPS content management system within the limits of the General Public License, which has been established by the GNU’s Not Unix Project or a compatible software license as defined by the Free Software Foundation..
