X-Soap 3.9 - Imperative Release

What is SOAP?

SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) is a way for a program running in one kind of operating system (such as Windows 2000) to communicate with a progam in the same or another kind of an operating system (such as Linux) by using the World Wide Web's Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP)and its Extensible Markup Language (XML) as the mechanisms for information exchange. Since Web protocols are installed and available for use by all major operating system platforms, HTTP and XML provide an already at-hand solution to the problem of how programs running under different operating systems in a network can communicate with each other. SOAP specifies exactly how to encode an HTTP header and an XML file so that a program in one computer can call a program in another computer and pass it information. It also specifies how the called program can return a response.

What Can It Do for Me?

You can link with any soap-compliant system with complete w3c standard wsdl these will be completed in version 4.0 they are more just the abstract data layers of wsdl, they still need a dynamic mime type and other system written into them which the constructs are in place. You can transfer data between any sort tunnel through most of not all firewalls and poll your xoops platform from with another xoops or CMS or even things like .NET, Delphi and many other programming languages.

Whats New in this release?

Well a few bugs have been finished off and nicely rounded to be bug free we have also added a new plugin which allows for lost passwords to be used, remember the plug-in examples with it are completely compatible from all the way back before 2.0.16 which as far as we tested back and now completely tested on 2.3.

To Download it Click here xoops2_xsoap_3.9.zip 186 Kbs.

If you like you can test the new Authentication Libraries within branch 2.3.1 of the new 2.3.0 release of Xoops.

And Remember Keep Smiling!! Happiness brings a big smile and all that jazz with life plus it uses less muscles than frowning..

Joomla is looking to XOOPS :)

Resized Image

It was a very nice confirmation that XOOPS is doing lately something good, when we've learned that Joomla is copying the idea of WOX (World of XOOPS), our monthly newsletter, and has published a first ever issue of its Joomla! Community Magazine. They also copied our idea of "XOOPSer of the Month" and have their "Joomla! Forum Member of the Month" together with an interview that looks very similar to ours

As they say, imitation is the best form of flattery, so the Joomla! Community Magazine actually made us feel good! And the fact that they are checking on us to see what we do, is even better!

It clearly show that we can be proud of XOOPS and our accomplishments, if projects like Joomla are imitating us.

There are clear signs that XOOPS in turning around - our number of visitors are getting better and better, the number of new registered users per month is high and getting better by each month.

The fact that we've made this year as a Finalist for the Best Project of Source Forge Community Awards (don't forget to vote!!!!) speaks for itself. Add to this the Awards that XOOPS received in just the last few months from Adobe Edge, the 5 Stars from Germany's CHIP, or the top placement on a list by ONDD.

While Joomla is proud of recently having their 5,000,000th copy downloaded, XOOPS has as of today 6,623,558 copies downloaded from SourceForge (see here), and with that we are the #1 CMS on SourceForge.

Of course, this is only the beginning!!!

XOOPS 2.3 is coming soon, and then we are off to work on XOOPS 3.0, which will kick some serious butt!

The XOOPS community is an awesome "sleeping giant", and we need to awaken it to really live up to XOOPS potential! This community has awesome Innovators, extremely dedicated XOOPSers, and if all of us pull together in one direction, we can be unstoppable!!!

We have some great plans for 2008 and beyond. But we'll need all the help from the whole XOOPS Community to make these 2008 Plans reality. We are confident, however, that together, we'll be able to make it.

Remember - XOOPS is powered by YOU!!!!

Changes to the XOOPS Website

In order to structure better our XOOPS Website, we started to use more extensively MyTabs by Trabis.

This will help us to group together support topics related to Core, Themes, Modules, XOOPS Website, and Installations.

In the past, when some topics were more popular, they tended to be the more visible, and as a result the less popular topics quickly disappeared from the radar screen.

We also opened a new MyTab Page for XOOPS Teams. We hope that more people will join XOOPS Teams when they see what is needed and what the Teams are working on.

Please let us know if this is a better structure and if you find the navigation easier to find the topics that are of interest to you.

Please provide feedback in this thread....

With Dr Usage Graph you can follow the progress of your Xoops Usage with visits and click with this useful tool. This module requires the XOOPS Framework version of 1.35

This also tracks is integrity which should never drop below 100% unless you have some form of paranormal activities happening within your domain which in this graphs early stages of deployment we even noticed there was in our system.

This will display a graph over 10 hours which will show you the user usage of your system. This module requires Frameworks 1.35.

Framework 1.35 - Release

Attention Xoopers

Welcome to the new framework module this has XoopsGraphs Included this is inline with our distributaries agreement with the Author of jpGraph, over the last couple of months I have been contacted by some of you to make suggestions of other graphing systems to be include, for that I thank you.. Most of those that I looked at such as the JavaGraphs and so on didn't seem to work with mobile web technology as well.

With this version of XoopsGraphs you can generate graphs that can also be seen for example on your mobile phone, image that being able to watch the stock report and pips while you are out on the town. All the other features of XoopsGraphs allow you make extremely complex. XoopsGraphs currently has a GraphFactory so you can add other graphing abstraction layers to this bundle, nothing like a bit of flexibility.

So this is now version 1.35 of Frameworks, which makes for a good system for business and the science sector. Also I Have made a Usage graph for you all for the first example of XoopsGraph, which will eventually be further extended at some point of time. This is a great time, I hope you like the Frameworks Abstractions Layers.
