Obituaries Module
hello,
today my post isn't a new theme as usually: it's to announce my first module : Obituaries.
"Obituaries" is a new XOOPS module to announce death and show services to be held.
Obituaries module was based on birthday module by instant zero, and has been totally transformed with the
precious collaborations and helps of Mowaffak ali (http://www.arabxoops.com).
Short description :
This module allows you to show :
- Date of death
- Deceased's Full Name
- Deceased's Picture (automatically resized)
- Short Biography: This typically includes the person's date and place of birth, schools attended, degrees achieved, vocation and hobbies. It can be written as a perfunctory, chronological list or as a more prose-like tribute.
- Names of Survivors: This typically includes the deceased's parents, children, spouse or domestic partner. Some people even include the name of a beloved pet.
- Service Announcement: or Services to be held: When and where the funeral, memorial service, viewing or wake will take place.
- Memorial Contributions: Where people can make donations in remembrance of the deceased or send flowers.
- Sincere Condolences : users can use the comment system to write their Condolences
Specifications :
- This module can be used with social, family or news websites, it contains one block : "today deceased". (Deceased's picture is available)
- You can see a list of all obituaries
- You can select the text editor to use
- You can upload a picture to each deceased (pictures are automatically resized)
- Obituary can be created for persons who are not users of your site
- Integration of the Xoops comments system (hacked to be used as condolences book)
- Integrated to the Xoops search
Notes : The modules requires Php 5 , and it's compatible with XOOPS 2.2x and 2.3x

Xoops and Oledrion for the industry
The website http://www.dubuis.com facelifts with the help of the Instant-Zero solutions, Oledrion in the front.
For a long time I wanted to redesign the website of my company. Our business is the design, manufacture and marketing of hydraulic tools.
The old site in html was really any more suited to current constraints. Referencing very bad, products updates available only for the developer, styles changes very delicate, compatibility problems between different internet browsers ...
The major difficulty, after the time, was the lack of a module that can display a catalogue of an organized, simple, adaptable, stable way.
It was of course impossible for me to use anything else that XOOPS, but the module commerce (as OsCommerce) did not match what I wanted. I aimed to quickly delegate management of the catalog to my colleagues in the marketing department. I needed a module easy to administer, easy to use by user, simple and homogeneous.
Oledrion has naturally imposed, it responded very well to my expectations.
Recent changes in Oledrion 2.1 served me a lot ... In particular the ability to hide tabs in the administration for non-standard used features.
Mini forms for selection in the list of products are very useful when creating items and when the list becomes long.
The creation of relatives links between the products in Oledrion is underway; the work on referencing is also in progress.
My company cannot make payment online (we only work with distributors having differents prices), so I changed the management of the basket and converted the online payment as request for quote. Some templates have been modified and some adaptations due to multilingualism were necessary.
Some features have been disabled as inventory management, VAT, carriage costs, manufacturers and retailers.
The catalog is a very simple products list, with a possibility to download the data sheets in pdf, to place the product in a list for a quote.
In addition to Oledrion some modules were used:
"Tinyeditor" for WYSIWYG,
"Pages" for the presentation of the company,
"Contact" for the contact form,
"Googlemaps" for details on location,
"Sitemap" for the map,
"XoopsCare" for maintenance,
"Protector" for security.
After several weeks of work for the creation of 200 items from the catalog I finally set up the new site: http://www.dubuis.com

Version 4.14 of Netquery, the complete PHP/SQL open-source toolkit of network utilities, is now available for download here and on the author's web site at http://www.virtech.org/tools/
Netquery's major features currently include the following:

- spambot "bad behavior" screening,
- geoIP & top countries usage mapping,
- multidomain & IP/AS whois lookups,
- autodiscovery for whois TLD server,

- port check with services lookup option,
- HTTP HEAD and GET requests,
- ICMP pings (local and/or remote),

- looking glass router interrogation,

- multi-instance sideblocks in CMS editions,

Scool of rugby, Oloron Ste Marie (france)
Hello everybody,
Here is what I did recently-the site of the rugby school of Oloron in the Pyrenees Atlantiques -labelled FFR 2006.
The site is comprehensive and permanently nourished by writers from the school who have learnt how to use the site on this very occasion.You'll find photos and videos of matches and trainings, a chat, forum and news of the school.
All this was done benevolently in a XOOPS spirit and so I transferred what this community sent me.
A Home page flashing has been added.It can just be seen once a day-it can be parametrized-and it works with a cookie,you can ask me the code if you like.
The menu and effect of the page layout come from xoops menu on Xoopsland (multiblack and pagear).
Thanks to the Rugby School for their friendly welcome and the work done to make this project successful.
A presentation to the people and local Press is planned with entertainments in a cyber-coffeeshop in town. I'll let you know precisely from here.
