Hi all i just finished a simple slider module for xoops i'd like to share.

This module allows you to create as many sliders as you want, with as many slides as you want in them.

Each slide can have a picture which will be resized if GD library is available, a title and a description.

You can skip the description or the image if you like. Only the title is mandatory.

Installation
1. Install as any other module, upload the folder slider into /modules/
2. Go to xoops admin > modules and hit install.
3. make the folder /modules/slider/uploads writable - chmod 777

Use of the module
In the admin area you can create as many sliders as you like and add to them as many slides/pages as you'd like, with or without an image.

ONE of the MUST be active in order for the slider to work.

Make the block visible and thats it.

You can give it a try.

It does not work properly. When I go to the backend, it shows the following error:

I can't see any action buttons for editing or deleting slides. I don't see the option for uploading images.

@insraq: I worked on the module on xoops version > 2.3.

anyways i have mate it compatible with 2.3 now mate. Please download the package und update the module.

@bjuti: demo

@btsec: did you create a slider first mate? This is the first you got to do and then in its actions there is a picture/link to manage its slides.

@burning: there is already a block for displaying the slider mate :) just enable it from system->blocks admin and it should be working.

but the module page is blank see here

by the way this site is for testing modules if you want to test modules online i can put it only sendme a PM

btsec, first you have to create a slider in admin, this screen like to create a category in other modules.

Then go to admin sliders an you will see the slider list, pick the one that you create, click admin icon on your slider beside edit icon and now you can see a screen that is the adder of slides, this have title, description and upload images. add them as you want.
At the end go to slider list and pick the red ball at rigth to activate and it become green.

Remenber first you create a slider, second create slides for each slider.

great idea, but unfortunatly the module dosn't work under xoops 2.4.4 or 2.4.5.rc2.
by the way I did the translation into arabic and french, but I didnt share it with my community arabxoops.com , or frxoops.org till yet, because I am waiting that you make it compatible with newest xoops version.
I will pm you the translations

not yet! can you tell me what kind of errors you get? i use the module i the versions you are refering to and 2.3 too, any debug info?

hello,no error in the debuging , but I saw an X instead picutres in the block.

Module has great potential but I am running into same issues as other users running 2.4.5.

Hi all,
I got it working on my local machine. had to edit the code that insraq posted in his first comment. I will have to look at it again but it should be the first slash that is the url/path to the images directory that I removed then the images were displaying. tried placing the text above or beside since text displays behind the image but couldn't.
- We should be able to define a link either on the image and/or text so that we can link to something, other than using the text area provided. I used xoops 2.4.5 final then it worked fine.
- We should be able to control the height or width of the image
- what if it can be used to pull content from a module like news mod

Hi,

can someone tell how can I make it a slide show?

It should have buttons as it has now (on the left & right), however I need to play it as a slide slow with a time gap of say or 2/3 second.

will appreciate any help....

@deepak77: I changed the slider.js jquery plugin to support slideshows
what you have to do is the following.

edit slider.js file in /js folder and replace everything in it with the following code

thats it now you can initiate the slider in the templates as follows in blocks/slider_block_index.html change the script at the end of the file with this one

set autoscroll to true/false if you want the slider to loop scrolling
set the time intervall value at your pleasure.

i will update the module so that those will be set by the user who creates the slider and through config values as soon as i can.

Hi kerkyra,

Thanks for this module. I have tried pretty hard but I am afraid that I have not been able to get the autoscroll to work. I believe the problem is somewhere with:

if(!slider.data || !slider.data.length)

It does not like slider.data, you can see it implemented here: http://www.evucan.com

Would be great if you can advise.
