YAXS: DayDawn Online, yet another Acida Software website runs XOOPS

Acida Software is now using XOOPS for it's site for their newest game in developement, DayDawn Online. We've being trying several solutions, like WordPress, SMF and PHPbb but those simply couldn't achieve what we wanted, so we turned to XOOPS, and it hasn't disapointed us

The site runs XOOPS 2.3 Beta, and is running several modules:
* the Contact module
* NewBB
* the News module
* Protector
* ThAdmin
* XoopsPolls
and several currently not used modules:
* WordPress for XOOPS
* MyTabs

We're using a few themes, and 3 of them are costumized:
* Pop_black2
* Firefox
* Pixelgreen
And the others are:
* Zetagenesis
* Default

Hi, The site looks great. What software did you use to make the First (stupid) trailer!. We are trying to create one for xoops.

Well we've used Windows Movie Maker. A newer trailer is coming up though and it'll be better then the current one. Windows Movie Maker is more capable then most people think, and you can make nice things with it:)

Wikkid, it will be nice to have some game play in our CMS Quantum Layers, I use to play games like Ultima 7 and King's Quest IV... You should have some form of random map generator so each player can't compare where they are upto.. That is the feature of Ultima 7 i like..

Well you see all those website with heaps of ajax and so on, but what happens for the people still running stuff like IE4 and IE5 and so on, with computer they have never updated, that why here at XOOPS we enjoy offer the full spectrum of browsers rather than those sites which only work on the latest which means over 34% of your traffic can't even see the site.

Which version of XOOPS did you use, i suggest you also set up a SOAP interface with your XOOPS site with X-SOAP (my title) and your game, then they can share logins with the game and your site.. All you will need to do is drop some plug-in into the /plugins folder and you have a soap stream running... Full WSDL..

Indeed, this would be very handy Wishcraft... I'll try to set it up when we're ready to start on the registration and so on... It's not going to be a client based game though, but it will be very fun.
Indeed, XOOPS is the best thing we can use, AJAX isn't really important, it's really more for fun and coolness, not really because you need it. And XOOPS is very very very handy to use, very flexible; no other CMS gives the same thing: you can easily add blocks, install modules... It's very flexible...

I'm using XOOPS 2.3 Beta 1, and we'll try to integrate it with X-SOAP... If I have any questions, can I ask them to you Wishcraft? I don't think that there are many XOOPS sites that will be doing the same things as we're doing...

Yeah I have gotten a few questions about X-SOAP which is an XML Transaction layer for XOOPS; so for example you can ask questions in XML and Replies in XML over any platform, so for example you could image something like a MUD system where when you have conversations and so on, it also comes up in the community portal, as the program can so a SOAP call anywhere to your XOOPS x-soap and it could for example appear in newbb or your own customised module.

Imagine for example in a battle to another player it renders the reel of the game and your bloody wikkid show down appears online in a movie based on score then in the social networking section, has your last battle replayed and so on, in the next version of x-soap I will return for you MIME object exchange this way you can exchange a polygon matrix from a client software like WOW for example, and the server can que it to a render farm and then spit out the flv to the server and you have, instant amazing battle return...

This can all be done with a X-Soap plugin.. You know you can always contact me that is why my details are in my profiles. I don't know why people even use FTP push services, it is just a HDD DJ Scam.. You know how that old expression I know we use to use it on Access Denied Radio which was in 286 days and so on like - "Listen to that HDD Chatter!" when the hdd goes crttc crtct chtrcth crtt

This way people can be browsing around you latest battle putting comments on even when your still home not even checking the portal still in that transfix transient state g4m3rs get into... I wonder... SOAP in stuff like X-SOAP make for community board in real time interactive aggregated game where it is even interactive for the spectator..

Well that's a great idea, but the bad thing is we ain't got FLV /FFMPEG on our servers. But we can always try to install it on one of our servers. And another problem could be the factor: bandwith. But maybe it's better if I'll let you contact the leaddeveloper Typhoon... Send me a PM and I'll give you his email. ;)
