Thank you! I use the module on www.xoops-magazine.com

It functions great with the Koivi editor and also with the FCKeditor.

You can provide own Smartys. That has the advantage that you can build these in your Themes. Thus also your Theme for several languages is suitable.

I've been a satisfied user of SmartLanguage for a while but I moved to xlanguage. What I tell is mainly related to previous releases of SmartLanguage.

Even if SmartLanguage has superior technology (?), you miss the advantage of standardisation as SmartLanguage is different from the standard XOOPS releases. This makes upgrading slower. First you have to wait until SmartLanguage is upgraded. Second, you have to hack your modules each time you want to upgrade these as you may have to make their code compatible to SmartLanguage.

At the time I switched to xLanguage, the URL rewrite function of SmartSection was not compatible with SmartLanguage. And SmartSection was made by the same people as SmartLanguage!

Problem of xLanguage is that it has a bug if you use it with long text. This can be avoided easily by adding some extra language tags.

Smarty variables are nice, but these are no advantage over xLanguage. You simply work in a different way with xLanguage. (Suggestion to the SmartFactory team: put the Smarty variables in a separate module

)

Hi!

Thanks for the module.

I tried to lokk into it with the intention of using it and found out that it could be a bit complicated. Further the user above did mention my doubts.

Its a very nice contribution, I must say.

What I have really failed to understand is why the developers even today do not think of inserting two following fields in each and every table of all modules:

sitegroup $ language

By doing so, each module would be applied to a particular site with their necessary language.

By hacking on the module side, it all becomes more complicated as the User above very truely described. Further, using xLanguage also does not solve th problem fundamentally.

If a content belongs to a particular language, than a parameter added to the content could fully qualify the SQL_fetch from mysql Queries.

Thats the reason why I fail completely to understand this whole game about designing and re-developing several modules for the same purpose by different developers getting into an Adition of loads of extra work.

If the developers of SmartSection and xLnguage did work togather on a new Architecture with the Core team, it would have produced a complete better solution. Now there are Users generating from xLanguage and SmartSection and there will be many sites croping fom both this developments.

Sometime there will be new Language Approach coming up and may make the furher development redundunt.

I wonder, because not within the power current XOOPS have a multilingual website, XOOPS one single database.

This development is already a hack but of course plays the kernel and then not let you update.

Smartfactory is and ask XOOPS developers planned to incorporate Is this function so well and would still the most international xoops?

the web today are already in 2 languages at least, and do not see how it solves XOOPS and then can update without problems.
