Modules: CBB 4.0 seeking UI designers

The CBB 4.0 is being developed and the following Team Members are needed:

UI designers: responsible for end-user page, moderator page and module admin page design, and template buildinng.

Feature designer/tester: responsible for new feature proposal and existing feature evaluation upon performance and scalability.

Documentation and tutorial makers

I'd like to signup for some work in the "Feature designer/Tester" portion. I also have some ideas for layout, options for new features.

Hello phppp,.

Hooray,.this is great news, and I sure I want to help, but I have other XOOPS business I have to attent, although they are related to this topic.

Currently I'm working on the templates for the newbbex (forumex) module of Hervé for my own use, but they are almost finished and I will give them to the community when they are done. Second,.Herko asked me to redesign the templates of the cbb 3.x for our own Dutch XOOPS support site, I guess I then will be able to have a look at the 4 version.

So you can count me in as advicer, and later on as builder.

I just hope other module developers will follow and seek the help of the designers surrounding this fine community

Hi,
First, excuse my bad english.
I hope the next version of CBB can fix some items that don´t work well.
I have reinstalled the CBB v. 1.16 (all OK.) and removed the 3.05, because the new version didn´t saved the data about read/unread topics and messages by user. Showed all messages and topics how new. I don´t have this problem with CBB 1.16.
But, I see this great project is alive and upgrading these features and I think these problems will be fixed.

Great to see CBB is moving forwards,

but I do agree with this observation. Problems of adding moderators, viewing new posts and marking forums as read have been reported many times. These features worked fine in the early 1.13 version. I too am hopeful CBB 4.0 will have these issues fixed in addition to rolling out any new features.

khuhner, incama and anyone who would like to help with the project, plz register to dev.xoops.org and let me know your ID so that I can add to the newbb project team.

To users who demand bugfixes, plz be aware that a new major version is on purpose for building new features and tuning existing features. So, plz report bugs you found to the CBB 3.05 version, which is also being maintained.

Both building new features and bug reports are contributions.

That has been, in my eyes, one of the problems of Xoops. Developers working alone and the designers are working alone. I know at least one designer that sure is intrested in working together with developers, but lost the hope a bit,.as I did some time ago.

Working together from two different aspects truly can improve the whole point!

phppp always im ready to help in cbb project.

IMHO its one of the top modules in XOOPS that must be develope further.

already i send bugs for 3.0.5 and new features that i gathered from other famous forum softwares like VB and IPB.

I definitely support this project! I feel that cbb has become the single best choice for XOOPS based forums. If there is anything that I can do I would be happy to do so.

Feature designer/tester:

Especially now that more Graphic Intense designs are becoming available. It is important to get as much valid input, and assist phppp as much as we can.

Already made a couple suggestions

@marco, performance would be the first concern and the top priority for new version of CBB since XOOPS is now deployed by more and more large sites :)

Do you think we could add shi-painter as we have on our site, yet we do believe it could go in to XOOPS and be a lot more practical then we have, yet it needs a forum system to render the java script and at the moment we have cgi and are looking at a different PHP system, yet thought if we could add it into the editor selection then we already have a full Oekaki (doodle) board and XOOPS system?
If I could stop playing with new ideas then yes definitely will help and would love to make a folding forum that is practical.
Plus in graphic design and tidying we are practising with our site and have added and changed the whole system over to article and CBB!
Now all it needs also is shi-painter adding as an editor and we rock!!
We do anyways with article and CBB so in anyways I can help just ask, and I will… as all I do is help making and linking the free side of the web as work.
Hope we could add shi-painter anyone speak Japanese and Chinese would help as we can use Google translate, yet this could be done quite easy… if you know how?
Then XOOPS goes a step further with permissions of course yet would help people as XOOPS is cool system and the editor selection shouldn’t be that hard to edit a picture a Koivi does yet instead be able to use shi-painter and so make a bridge for collective art online.
You can have a look at the painter on my site running in wakaba yet you can’t re-edit a reply, yet with XOOPS we could.
Then we could show what XOOPS is good at and bridging the gap between ideas worldwide.

Has the 4.0 branch been created? I've been checking back at dev.xoops.org and dont see the branch.

I have some updates for some of the templates but dont know where to nake them.

CBB 4.0 will be great

I have new idea for CBB, it's Styleset.

Styleset is imageset with it's newbb.css

This need to replace this line in modules/newbb/header.php :

<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="templates/newbb.css" />

with:

<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="images/imagesets/'.$setdir.'/newbb.css" />

Now each imageset have special newbb.css file and web designers can make styleset templates as VB, phpbb, ... etc
