The WF-Projects Team are delighted to deliver another module to the Xoops Community.

WF-Links is a module for Xoops that offers more features than the original mylinks module which is part of the older Xoops distributions.

You can create a link section with multiple categories and sub-categories.

Here is a short selection of features offered:

Create multiple categories and subcategories for your links
Submission permissions per (sub-)category
Moderation permissions per (sub-)Category
Choose to validate link submissions first or have them automaticly accepted
Add screenshots to your links
Add a description to your links
Add a maturity rating for your links
Allow user ratings and comments for your links
Define publishing and expiration times for every link (optional)
And many more...

Can I transfer old links from mylinks module to this new one? And how if it's possible?

Yes use the update script provided, read the docs and that will explain how to do this.

Important: Remember backup your the old mylinks tables first!!!

Oh, I've not tested i yet - and personally i've no need to test it

BTW, I'm a little confused by your choices.

For what I can see the wf-projects site has about 4-5 projects active, right now. But the greater one - the one who have to be the state of art module (and the one that many peoples are waiting for), like the previous (1.01) version - is still in beta from about _indefined_ time.
Others modules still have great feats but also a few bugs that aren't fixed by time.

So, after make my point clear, I'm glad (as all the XOOPS community) for all the works you've done. But I think that a more focus on existing projects is needed by you.

Please, WF-Project's team members, don't be angry for this but take it as a constructive criticism.

Yes it may seem odd to you all but WF-Downloads, WF-Faq and WF-Sections have had bug fixes and new additions to them and these will be released by us in the next few days.

pd-links is based on wf-downloads 2.05.

wf-links is officially based on my-links but its mainly based on wf-downloads with many things of pd-links.

as far as i saw there are less difference between pd-links and wf-links, but feel free to test both and us that module thats fits your request better.

Actually this is incorrect.

WF-Links is based on WF-Download v2.0.6 and not v2.0.5 (as is PD-Links).

WF-Links has many differences to PD-Links and many of these are in the code underneath. Where as PD-links has still much of the WF-Downloads v2.0.5 code (the conversion was not that clean, do a preg search for files && downloads and you will see what I mean), we have added new features that are not in any other module (yet).

For a start multi-category links, you can have the same link in as many categories as you like.

We have also added another new feature 'WF-project resource' which will be more apparent when the other modules are released.

There is also the submission and moderator permissions, the moderator permissions feature will be expanded to allow choosen moderators to work from the front area and not have access the back.

im running this mod right now, thanx for this great work!

just a sugestion: maybe its interesting put some page to manage easily the extra categories... right now, its quite dificult update many links, and figure out what link is in what categorie.

I'm sorry, but admin/permissions.php seems to be missing from the download.
Also, the ability to create new categories..
I followed the instructions on the readme.html for a "new" installation..
Clicking on permissions in the admin menu gets me a big fat white screen...

Please assist, thank you.

I agree, the current method used is not very helpfull and we intend on addressing this issue in 1.0.1.

@EdStacey:

Please ignore that as that should have been removed from the silly popup menu.

All permissions are handled from the category edit and no where else.

However, clicking on the "category management" nets me the heading menu and nothing after the second heading "Category Management" (just dead white space) with PHP debug on I get this in the whitespace:
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class wfllists in ..\skilltechcomputers.com\modules\wflinks\class\wfl_lists.php on line 14

Clicking on "Block settings" on the heading menu nets me, the admin blue bar top of page and nothing... (just dead white space)
Clicking on "Image upload" just gives me dead white space with the same error in \wfl_lists.php on line 14, etc..
The remainder of the menu items appear to function normally.

PHP debug can be a bugger I know...

Ok, if you are comfortable editing php you could find every instance of:

include_once '../class/wfl_lists.php';

and delete it, except for the one in admin_header.php and let me know if that helps.

Will try and have a second beta out in a few hours.

this sounds like a bug to me:

in blocks/wflinks_top.php, line 39, "$options[1] * 2" isnt wrong? its doubling the number of links. I change to "$options[1]" and it looks fine now.

Please, tell me if im wrong.

just another sugestion:

maybe its interesting if a link keep the category from where we find it. For example, if we are looking the links in "honda" (an "extra cat"), and click "view details", the link shows "cars" like the category (cause thats the main cat of the link). Maybe it will be better keep "honda", without reverse to "cars" category when we click in "details"

there is a problem with pd-links!

for all pd-links users do NOT install wf-links, because when you have installed wf-links pd-links dont run anymore!

i for me get the following error-message when i try to enter the user-side of pd-links

this bug is NOT a bug from pd-links, it seems that wf-links uses the same funktions as pd-links.

i only wanted to warn als the pd-links users that there cant use pd-links with wf-links because of that bug in wf-links.

and that many users will read that i have to write it so i know its beta 1 and so on. but its important that every user knows that problem.

Um, then since you actually converted our module (badly) in the first place it is up to you to actually change the function name and not us.

In future please do not tell people not to install our module the way you did, that just shows total disregard for the users of these module and makes yourself out to be very bad indeed.

we have not converted YOUR module because wf-links wasnt even announced on that day we have released our module.

so its up to you, its simple you did a module on base of our idea so its up to you - simple.

you cant say that we have to fix a bug that your module made - our module works greatly or do you have any problems with it?

be sure we will not fix any bug of your module - its a incompatibilty of your module, you have to test if your module (that comes after our module) will work with every other module out there.

und auf deutsch gesagt
ich hab die schnauze voll davon dass das wf-team alles macht um unsere arbeit niederzumachen, ich wollte nur auf diesen fehler hinweisen (den übrigens ein user auf myxoops.de zuerst gemeldet hatte) und dann wird UNS vorgeworfen wir sollen unser modul umschreiben, was soll der scheiß.

sorry that this was in german, but its easy for me to say the right thing in my mother-language.

I believe this would only occur if both modules where installed at the same time, which is not really a case that will happen very often.

If you have problems with My Team or myself I do not personally care, but for the sake of XOOPS I am going to ask you one more time if you have issues like the so called 'warning' then please contact us privately and we will be only to glad to help you.

You are pissed at us because we asked you to remove copyright material from what was our module, our first post to you was one of good nature and we would have kept it that way if not for the silly attitude that followed.

So this is the last time I give you a hand of friendship and ask that we both put these things in the past and if not work together atleast try get along with each other.

The choice is up to you.

a user on myxoops.de wanted to test wf-links beside of pd-links and reported that he gets a white site - then i have tested it and got that error message.

i wanted to report that because many people want to test a module beside another module - so they now knows that there is problem.

yeah peace friend - no problem.
but i wanted to stated one thing, we have no problem by remove any copyright material and we will do that in the next version - absolute no problem, it was better to contact us privatly but now its the past.

we dont want to throw stones in your or any other XOOPS developers way and we want the same thing from you and your team and every other XOOPS developer.

Scott, taking line 23 out of admin/category.php caused the rest of the page to display properly, as did taking line 13 out of admin/upload.php

As always with the "brilliant" ideas and no skillz to bring it about.. Please consider allowing the "footer" editor to be the same as the "heading" editor on the Index Management Screen.
So that I could at least add a smiley, or a graphic, bigger text, colored text, yada-yada...

Oh, and here's another bit of Cerebrial Flatulence.. How about in ALL the WF modules.. where you have "Browse by Alphabetical Listing".. please consider Three pull-down strips (or whatever they are called) - Two with Alpha-numeric characters and one with such things as, "Newest to Oldest", "Oldest to Newest", "Added this week", etc..
The Two alpha-numeric pull-downs are labeled, "From" and "To" - So a body could pull-down select a listing from say, A to D, or A to A.
Put a GO! button on there and label the entire thing.. "BROWSE"...
Ah! what the heck, this should be posted on the development forge I know... but I'm just so excited that WF links is working, I'm all beside myself..
Thanks again to all the WF team... You get an A++ for orginal thinking. Ed
