Xoops Digger is search engine for Xoops and another system, main features are:
* Result Displayed by ranks
* Total weighting control for part of documents (title,description...), whole documents and modules
* Can index document content
* Search can be limited to some modules
* Common words exclusion
* Display fully customisable throught theme layout

Not actually but it behave quite the same except for one things. In E-Xoops we can know if a pdf or html file is indexed locally and so opening it and index it. (it's also possible with remote file but allow_url_fopen is not activated on many server) but all of this is very easy to change and code is very well documented so if you want to change something...

Basically all is the same except database access and so on.

Definitely an improvement on the current XOOPS search module. Displaying search strings in context snippets is very useful. Can you progress this module into a full XOOPS module?? Have a look at what fatman has been doing with XoOgle. It would be really good if these 2 modules were compatible.

This was a problem with the modular architecture actually you need to index documents manually (thought you have an admin interface for this). However you can hack modules in order to index automaticaly.

For those interested have a look at two files wich are very well documented located in:
xoopsdigger/admin/include
more explaination to come
with this it's very easy to hack modules, more to come on the website about how hacking modules and new interface for other modules...

What do you mean exactly ?

I have developed this module in order to have a searchable document repository (for an NGO where I work, I just convince them to release it under GPL

). Then I've made a full module and development will continue...

Remember, this is just an beta release.
The difference with XoOgle and other like PHPDig also is that here you only index what you find usefull not say: the navigation menu, user menu and so on that are present on every page (all this words just loose all signification). So I don't think they could be compatible...
