XOOPS Team is pleased to announce the release of My_Downloads RC1.

My_Downloads RC1 introduces some new features outlined in the changes below:

Changes:

- Admin area has totally been re-written using XoopsFormClass
- Admin can now upload directly using the Form interface to a location which can be controlled via the config.
- File size is automatically calculated for both user and admin uploads.
- Category and Screen shot images can be directly upload and previewed.
- Uploads are controlled via mimetypes which can be set via the configuration.
- Admin can now chose to allow uploads or submissions to the website.
- Plus much more.....

Very Nice I love the modifcations.
Bug In the Image Links it is showing the Image url 2 times so the Image does not show.
Example =
http://www.mysite.com/modules/mydownloads/images/shots/http://www.mysite.com/modules/mydownloads/images/shots/
Also when Updating it is not showing the Download as updated. & Also the Line = Total Number of file Listings:
Is not showing how many

nice modifcations
but there are some error like blank page after upload zip file

if you dont fill all the field in the form you will get unknown error
but its very nice to start

Which version of of XOOPS are you using? This version needs XOOPS 2.0.5 to work, due to the changes within the core.

It is good modifications, I think.
However, why do you hack core files ?

A module replacing core files can't be called as "a good module".

He didn't hack core files. In XOOPS 2.0.5 the core changed a little. This new modifications are needed to run this module.

Did you look inside of the archive?
3 files under /class/ will be overwritten.
Or, does this module works fine without any overwriting to the files under /class/ ?

Suggestion for future use:

rather than blanket uploads allowed (even based on size), how about the DL is submitted to admin, approved, THEN user gets an email: "please upload now", only after upload is DL shown.

This 2 step proccess might be slow, but could suit a lot of people I think.

You could check the file type/name/size, to reduce chances of BS.

the module works fine, but it has few "bugs":

1. I had to deactivate, uninstall and remove the module mydownloads manually and upload the mydownloads folder included in the package.

2. when a user sumbits a file, it doesn't get the file size automatically.

3. the 'homepage' field should be filled with http:// already.

I'm running XOOPS 2.0.5, and for the rest seems to work fine.

I made some modifications to the theme regarding URL's, so you WILL have to update the module from system admin/modules.

Not sure why the downloads are not showing up as updaed and alos the number of line Total number of files listings. As really I did not change the actual code in somuch that I only chenged the way it 'displays' this part.

Will have a look anyway.

In fact I think I did a good job on not having to do any more modification than I already did, ie database update etc.

I had asked Kazu to include the class updates with version 2.0.5 but it slipped his mind lol. These are not really needed and can be discarded, but these make the XoopsFormclass a little bit better to look at

The Uploader class update was a modification that was unforseen and is really needed for allowing more than just image type uploads.

So you can now see, it wasn't a case of wanting to, but a case of having to and these changes will be part of the core in the next update.

I quite agree with you in terms of module developments, GIJOE. And I also checked modified core file to get to know what has been changed.
The change, as far as I have confirmed, seems to be tiny: the width attribute is the only change, I think.

It is an official module, isn't it? Thus XOOPS Module Team can take it into consideration that they have the right to modify the cores if necessary, in my opinion.

In conclusion, I think it's acceptable that the new download module includes hacked core files.
Since these changed files will be integrated to the next official release. So ,as you can see, we are not to suffer from the difference between "hacked core files" and "official core files" when we upgrade.

i have upgrade to mydownloads rc1 its very good but my mydownloads/index.php is blank now...i can access do most popular, etc, but nor to index.php..can you tell me why this happens?

Of course, I've already made diffs between the 3 files of 2.0.5 and Catz.
I couldn't understand why your uploader.php is not based on the recent file.
(typo dimension to dimention)

Because, this change point is very important for the module developper.

Please don't forget another modules use the class of uploader and xoopsForm.

Might want to include and if statement for the screenshot. Right now if there isn't a screenshot, it displays the ole "Red X", image place holder.

Path to screenshot is not /modules/mydownloads/images/shots/1.gif bug just 1.gif...
you can see this at http://www.activekitten.com/modules/mydownloads/viewcat.php?cid=2

you can see that the path in sources is just 1.gif (or for browser - /modules/mydownloads/1.gif).

Options in MyDownloads general options were setup OK (/modules/mydownloads/images/shots/).

May this is a bug?

i have a similar problem...when i upload an image, there was upload in /mydolwnloads/images/shot/my_image.gif but when i see it in my site, this image is read on /mydownload/my_image.gif ?? It's a bug ?

Great module! :)
i only have few suggestions to improve the module,

-it must get the file size automatically.
-it must allow to enlarge the screenshot.

about the 2nd point ,will be great if the module create the thumbs automatically when a user upload a big image, just as xcgallery module.
or maybe the user must upload a small image and a big image.

How 'bout adding the ability of rss generation for this module? Example, another example
"Latest XOOPS.org Downloads"
"Most Popular Ack!soft Downloads"
Perharps separated feeds for each download? Example

How about the option to have a rss feed associated with a given download? That way, any software available from sourceforge.net, freshmeat.net and many other places (like anywhere using myxoopsforge or this module if above stuff goes in) could be automatically updated (freshmeat will even provide a screenshot: example). Sometimes it'd be a new-releases-related feed, sometimes assorted news or the developer's blog.

I'd love the ability to add mirrors. Even more if it allowed me to post P2P links as sources

Optional field for dependencies (better if linkable).

Hmmm... how about a download queue? Add to my cart?

Multiple files available in one download (like different languages, older versions, binaries for diff. platforms, sourcecode, etc).

Send by mail (only for registered users, only for registered account)

Option to add the link to the download "homepage" to mylinks automatically.

Ability to download hot chocolate

I was also facing the same problem of badlink in uploading files with mixed UPPERCASE/lowercase filenames.

Scanning thru the codes, I found a small modification in submit.php file can fix this problem...

In line 104 of submit.php,

$url = XOOPS_URL . "/" . $xoopsModuleConfig['uploaddir'] . "/" . $HTTP_POST_FILES['userfile']['name'];

can be changed to

 $url = XOOPS_URL . "/" . $xoopsModuleConfig['uploaddir'] . "/" . strtolower($HTTP_POST_FILES['userfile']['name']);

It seems that (please correct me if I'm wrong), the class/uploader.php file will change all filename to lower case, so the same must be done to the filename (variable $url) in submit.php.

Now the module works fine for me!

A few spots in submit.php can be admended to fix the "cannot get file size automatically" problem. The bug seems partly due to the UPPERCASE/lowercase problem.

There are 3 spots need to fix:
1. line 133 is extra and should be deleted

$size = intval( $HTTP_POST_VARS["size"] );

2 and 3. line 117 to 119: the filenames should be all converted to lowercase (because this is what the uploader.php class does)
so it is from

 if ( is_file( XOOPS_ROOT_PATH . "/" . $xoopsModuleConfig['uploaddir'] . "/" . $HTTP_POST_FILES['userfile']['name'] ) )

I understand what you are saying, but the modification made to the uploader class will not affect any other module in the way they work and now gives the module developer more scope in the mimetypes that can be uploaded. So really, You gain as a developer here.

Hi,
i did all workarounds for the UPPER/lower case problems, even for the screenshots/previews.

They are shown now while on Latest Listing, but if the file switches to the category it is in only, or after modifying, the screenshot is not shown anymore.

I also have a thread in the forum running about that issue:

Don't know if anyone has ever had that bug.

When you have exactly 10 downloads in your database, when you go into the admin cp to see the list of downloads, there are no navigation link (1 2 next>).

And also the link previous doesn't work

So I have fixed it like that:

Find

 if ( $numrows % $show == 0 ) { 
$downloadpages = $downloadpages - 1; 
            }

And delete it

Then find

if ( $downloadpages != 1 && $downloadpages != 0 )

And replace it by

if ($downloadpages != 0)

And finally for the previous link problem it was just a small error of link

Replace

                    echo "< " . _MD_PREVIOUS . "  ";

this is a great addition to XOOPS - but what about 'normal' registered users?? I am only getting the Browse... button in the Admin section, not at submit.php - is there something I am missing??

Add the following to main.php in your lang folder; now the right phrase will pop up if users try to access the restricted submit page.

Hi, all;

I'm now trying to setup MyDownload RC1 in my site, and have a problem in updating file.

When I'd like to replace the file which is already uploaded with the new file(which have the same filename), the old file isn't replaced with the new file well.(Uploaded file is still old...)

How about your site??
If you have some idea about it, pls give me some advice how to setup/hack this module.
