Hi all,
I'm completely new to this, having taken over the (basic) IT responsibilities for my organisation.
Please note that I have a VERY low-level understanding of most of this website management etc... sorry for the bother!
I recently tried to update my website to the new 2.4.4. I followed the instructions.
For the instructions "Upgrading from any XOOPS ranging from 2.0.7 to 2.0.13.2 (using the full package)" located at
https://xoops.org/modules/news/article.php?storyid=5208 I completed Step 8 but am unsure of what I am supposed to do in Step 9.
When I try and access my website, I am now receiving this error:

When I attempt to access the admin page directly, I receive this error:

You can provide the following information to the administrators of this site to help them solve the problem:
Error: Smarty error: the $compile_dir 'XOOPS_VAR_PATH/caches/smarty_compile' does not exist, or is not a directory.
Can anyone help me out with some instructions? Thank you so much in advance, I'm sorry for the bother!
