With XOOPS 2.3.3, if you upgrade your PHP version to 5.3, there are 2 messages (displayed on all pages) :

Deprecated: Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated in C: wamp www htdocs include common.php on line 94


Deprecated: Function set_magic_quotes_runtime() is deprecated in C: wamp www htdocs include common.php on line 21


How can we hide those messages ?

In C:\wamp\bin\php\php5.3\php.ini

change your error reporting :)

On line 94 remove the & from =& it wasn't needed.
$xoops = new xos_kernel_Xoops2();

Add @set_magic_quotes_runtime() will stop it showing.

Change your error setting for PHP in php.ini
error_reporting  =  E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE & ~E_DEPRECATED
