I'm currently porting my first theme to XOOPS (you can see that I've gotten it to work nicely onhttp://www.acida.me).

The problem is: I don't get the left bar showing anything. I want to display the right blocks there, but I can't get it to work, I never get results. What should I do? Which code do I have to add? The test is were I want the left blocks....

Thanks,
Kevin

You must have a block loop with foreach in your theme.html for the 8 different types of blocks (left, right, center top left, ...) Check out a working theme to see how to do it.

just open any 3 blocks theme file in dreamweaver and you'll see that there is a code for a right and a left block. just put the code of the left block in the position you want and set up css for it.

You forgot to copy the definition for theme_name.
You will notice such things by the Apache access and error logs.
Start with a resembling working theme and modify that to your design. Work step by step, so you can see what it was, when something is going wrong.

If you plan to release your theme, you should more or less follow standards as in eg morphogenesis based themes and not limit the theme for displaying only two blocks, because this will also limit the possible interested users. But feel free to ignore this as I don't want limiting your artistic freedom.

I've got some nice new themes in the line-up Ghia, but those designs don't allow 3 columns, only 2... so I'll only add 2 columns on those...
You can preview them here: red_music and unembellished. Are they nice?

I really like your themes, but I think that you could make it 3 column :)

I like them too

Thank you guys lifted my morale!
I've got the sidebar working, but there's still one bug left that I can't solve atm... The text of the menus is rendered like this:

User Menu
Administration Menu View Account Edit Account Notifications Inbox Logout
Main Menu
Home Mastop Publish

I guess I've got to plunge a bit more in it, but I think you'll have the theme this week or next week (ps: I do like the redirect screen on the unembellished theme... it's nice and different)... but the redirect screen of the red_music theme is even better... Do you guys want to help me test it?
