new 2.3.3 install won't :-/

I get the following errors at the top of my install screen.

I'm running half a dozen XOOPS sites without any problem, so I'm pretty sure I know how to install one. The server environment has other sites on it, so environmental server settings can't be the problem...

The only thing that is different about this site and any other I've run, is that I'm using an IDN domain using Japanese characters instead of roman. Could that be a part of the problem?

Anyway, here are the errors:

I assume your site and database is UTF-8?
Your mainfile.php should also be saved as UTF-8 (without bom).

How does one save a file 'without BoM'?

(I use Mac, so no 'notepad++')

You can save in UTF-8 with textedit on your Mac. Not sure about BoM, should be in the save options. I can't check until tomorrow but I am sure I saw it there.

I see utf8 (and have saved as such) but I see no mention of 'bom' ...

I'll check it out tomorrow, I thought maybe in preferences somewhere you could set UTF-8 without Byte-Order Mark...

If you want files converted before then email them to me and I'll gladly convert and return to you.

No real hurry. I'll have to learn sometime, so might aswell wait till tomorrow. Thanks anyway.

Notepad++ should run on Mac under Wine.

I could probably do it with a pen and paper if I had enough wine

Managed to save utf-8 (no bom) using BBEdit, but the problem persists. Exact same errors as in first post. Any other ideas?

Saw this post, but can't understand why the server should need anything setting up as it had another XOOPS site (2.3.0) on it and it ran fine. Yes, I've deleted everything from the old install.

I have the same problem!

I try to save the file mainfile.php in UTF8
But the problem exists.

Please Help us!
