I've tried simply restore my files and database from my old web host to the new one, but that didn't work. Is there some kind of guide that can help me with this or anything else I need to do besides restoring my backups of my public_html directory and database?

The databases have the same name on both webhosts.

I don't know what setup you have, but generally you should just change the settings i mainfile.php

This is what I would think You need to change:
XOOPS_ROOT_PATH
XOOPS_PATH
XOOPS_VAR_PATH
XOOPS_HOST
XOOPS_DB_USER
XOOPS_DB_PASS
XOOPS_DB_NAME

If You hosting-company allow You to create sub-domains, the try to install a new XOOPS on a subsite. Then compare the two mainfiles.php
You should then be able to see what you have to change

Hi,

This FAQ should help

Other than uploading an exact copy of your website's files and database, you will need to edit some of the settings in mainfile.php (e.g. server paths, database usernames, passwoprds, etc).

Once you've done it you'll realise that it's not all that hard to do - just a little daunting the first time

If you need help then ask.

I am having an issue with a host transfer.... I transferred the site. I changed mainfile.php.... however, it still parses some links and other things like the stylesheets with the old urls. Even the login directs back to the old site. mainfile.php is changed, and the links are not hard-coded into the templates. Any suggestions?
