Can you post a screenshot of what you can see?

check the permission of
xoops_data/
xoops_data/caches/
xoops_data/caches/xoops_cache/

must writable

I guess we're going to have to stamp this advice onto our foreheads..... Or add it to our signatures

We'll probably have a "moderated" thread with the "Gotchas" like the one above, or something in the FAQ

We could call it "The RTFM FAQ"

I guess everyone will be up to speed soon enough

Hey, on behalf of the new, inexperienced , overconfident, lazy, uneducated (XOOPS education that is) and all other XOOPS users who ask ill-informed and sometimes largely un-researched questions on occasion in these forums... myself included.

Thanks for the patient replies.

Your time and efforts are appreciated.

You know who you are and you know who we are.

By the way, where exactly is the FM?

Or XOOPS could be made to detect it and announce it in stead of producing a blank menu?

The instructions for installing/upgrading come with the download and are included in the release News item here:
https://xoops.org/modules/news/article.php?storyid=4473

See item 5 under the heading "Upgrading from XOOPS 2.0.* above 2.0.14 and 2.2.* (using the full package)"

Mind you, how often do folks read the instruction manual for anything?

Sorry if the posts above sounded a bit "off" - wasn't the intention. It's just that the "make your xoops_data folders writeable" advice seems to be given a fair bit at the moment.
