Hi there, can the XOOPS search (particularly on the newbb forum) be made to ignore certain words?

Words such as 'and' are found in almost every post and so make for pretty meaningless results for many readers searches.

I know I can set a minimum letter-count but unfortunately on my site there are many keywords of 3 or 4 letters which are highly relevant and often searched for so I can't use this method.

Is there any way or hack that allows me to specify a list of words which the search should ignore?

thanks!

May be the best solution is to used Google Search.
It knows how to treat words without value.

Hi hervet

Thanks for your suggestion. Yeh, the google thing is kind of what I am looking for except I don't want to use the Google search on the website.

Is there anyway the XOOPS search (newbb search) can be made to ignore certain words?

thanks a lot
