Still hoping someone can advise me!

Is it ok to change the structure of a field (from varchar 255 to text)? The field is title in the newbb module and it already has quite a lot of entries.

Thanks

Hi

I have a problem with the titles on my forum (newbb)

I have 2 languages on my site and for each reader's forum post i translate the title of the post in to the other language

But this means that often the title length exceeds the limit of 255 characters (one language is non-western script so it takes up lots of characters).

So my question is can I simply change the structure of the topic_title field to a text one rather than varchar(255)?

I don't understand MySQL so well. Will making this change cause me performance issues? The forum is already quite large can I still make a structure change?

Thanks so much!!!

Hi hrac

that does look really good, unfortunately I don't think I have the skill to help integrate it.

Can anyone offer advice on intergration?

Hi

I'm looking for a module that will allow me to display school rankings to my users.

The website is to help parents choose a school. There are lots of different school rankings available these days - just about every magazine and newspaper has their own ranking of schools

And I need to be able to display all of the rankings (so its not just to display one league table).

I could just copy and paste each school ranking as an article using a module such as news or article but this won't really do as we need to have the tables open to manipulation

Does anyone know of such a module?

So far i found:

cricket stats - seems to be dead
tplleaguestats - seems to be dead
MatchDart - seems only suitable for a sports league table of wins & losses calculation

If anyone can offer any suggestions it would be great

thanks!

I'm using yogurt and like everybody i really love it (thanks sucio) but I have one question

Is there any way I can make the yogurt module's user pages replace the userinfo.php page as the default user pages across the site?

thanks

Hi hervet

Thanks for your suggestion. Yeh, the google thing is kind of what I am looking for except I don't want to use the Google search on the website.

Is there anyway the XOOPS search (newbb search) can be made to ignore certain words?

thanks a lot

Hi there, can the XOOPS search (particularly on the newbb forum) be made to ignore certain words?

Words such as 'and' are found in almost every post and so make for pretty meaningless results for many readers searches.

I know I can set a minimum letter-count but unfortunately on my site there are many keywords of 3 or 4 letters which are highly relevant and often searched for so I can't use this method.

Is there any way or hack that allows me to specify a list of words which the search should ignore?

thanks!

Page impressions counter gone crazy!

I've just noticed, my page impressions counter on the banners sysem has gone crazy (xoops 2.0.16).

Its counting like 10 times the number of page loads that I actually have - how can that be? If I keep refreshing the banners admin page every 10 secs the impressions counter of the banner has jumped by at least 10 - but I know I'm getting no where near that traffic.

How does the banner system count impressions?

Could this be a sign of something more serious? I've been having problems with keeping my MySQL tables optimized recently - could this be connected?
