well i deactivated the system module by mistake - this shouldnt be possible but it is dunno why - the error msg was shown but it was deactivated too :( i checked it in the database all values are set to 0 including "isactive" but setting it to 1 or setting all to 1 doesnt help.
the homepage actually completely works but the system module symbol isnt shown so i cant change any preferences..
can someone send me the original settings? i hope this will fix it ;)

See if you can use this to access your modules admin and then update the system module. Maybe that will work.

your site/modules/system/admin.php?fct=modulesadmin

Let us know how it goes.

Try deleting the file /cache/adminmenu.php

I had a disappearing module button the other day and it was restored after doing this.

Or after setting it to 1 in database, as alternative to Quests suggestion, try to udate it with:

thx for helping...

deleting the cache and setting all "has*****" values of the system module to 1 worked ;)
i didnt know of the menu being saved in the cache xD

so the protection function of the system folder makes it even worse - it seems like the system module is getting deleted and recreated if u try to delete it... :(
