There are existing ASP.NET files that I would like to interface to. I would like to have the search criteria on my XOOPS site and enable the user to invoke these ASP.NET programs to do a search on a database and show the results on the XOOPS site. Can anybody provide guidance or instructions on how to interface to ASP.NET files?

Web service?

Sorry for my ignorance, but what is a web service and what type of web service would I use?
