I see where some of the new themes are XHTML validated. Can someone please tell me how they got their theme.html to validate.

I understand it won't validate under some (most) modules, but I can't seem to validate the plain theme.html. I can't seem to validate ANY theme.html.

My CSS validates without a problem.

Any links are appreciated, I don't mind reading up

I guess there are some problems on the tables, if you do the w3c validation you will get the list of errors that need fixing in your theme.

People, you are missing my point. Maybe I am not explaining myself clearly.

The list of errors start with a failure at this:
Encoding: <{$xoops_charset} (in the head)

No theme.html I have tested validates, it gets stuck at that encoding error. I would like to validate my themes and put the button on the theme that it is validated, but I can't get it to validate and I refuse to put a button on there if it won't validate.

Even the default theme.html in XOOPS 2.2 doesn't validate.

I would like to know how to bypass the <{whatever}> in order to validate.

Have you defined correctly the doctype?

and if you have linked the style.css to the theme, erase the link.

Yes, I have defined everything correctly. As for a link, just take a theme.html from any current XOOPS themes that says its validated and try to validate it at W3C, it won't validate. I may be doing something wrong, but I am taking the "theme.html" and using it at the W3C Validation Page. If there is another way to validate, I don't know what it is and that's why I am asking.

Again, the first error I get is:

You know, it funny - but not in a "Ha, Ha" kind of way. Even the theme used on XOOPS' main site failed validation with 12 errors

when I validate I usually put the URL to the site. For example this is the result of the validation for xoops.org Click here to view

It even failed XOOPSDesign with 51 errors. This is strange!
