I am in the process of updating my XOOPS site, (its currently at 2.0.7).

I have uploaded the relevant upgrade files (2.0.7 - 2.0.9.2)

Each time I try to update system from the modules menu it seems to work okay but displays a red warning message saying "Unable to write to main menu".

Is this a problem?

How do I fix it?

As I say, it doesn't appear to adversely affect the upgrade, but I really don't want to be storing up problems for later.

Any advice gratefully received.

Thanks
Mark

make sure your cache/ folder is writable by the system (CHMOD 755 or 777, depending on your server setup).

If that doesn't work, remove the cache/adminmenu.php file, and go to the admin section of your site. It'll say that this is the first time you're logging into the admin section (this message is shown when the adminmenu.php file is generated), and that should fix that problem.

Yep. That did it. Thanks Herko.
