Hey, my community makes heavy use of the calendar to schedule our many monthly events and we really needed automated reminders. Since no XOOPS calendar module to my knowledge will send out a reminder I've been left to build the function in.
I had the idea of integrating the calendar submissions with the news functionality of Xoops. When you submit an event, it will create news stories, dated to post a few days before the event. This has the nice side effect for having a nice front page announcement for any scheduled events. Then to get a notification, you just have to have your news section set to notify you.
Probably won't start on this till next week since I'm pretty busy at the moment but anyone interested in the hack for general consumption?
