I un-zip the contents of the folder into a folder I have named for the module. I FTP said folder into the module folder and see it with all the other modules. But when I go to Modules in the admin section I don't see my new module, which should be ready to install.
?????

I believe you need to unzip the module file as-is, so that when you unzip the archive onto your desktop, a pre-named folder already appears with the module contents inside. If you rename the folder, or use a different name other than the one assigned to the module, you may or may not have issues.

This FAQ should be of some use to you.

I had this problem the first time... (xoops 2.2.3) Make sure you are uploading the correct directory. Sometimes there are directories which you don't need. Go down until you get to the directory containing the xoops_version file (or whatever it's called, I can't remember off-hand). This is the one to upload to the modules directory.

same problem here too...

can see module on the admin module install page.

Is this a PHP5 problem?

Is there a solution?
