Which one do you think is the best forum that XOOPS supports based on your personal experince/and the features it gives/the security?

CBB/Newbb is about the the best and most actively-updated forum for XOOPS.

Gestroud,

In which respect is CBB better? Updated could be one reason but what about the features?

Newbb_fileup allows you to embed SWF and image files and sorts Topics. There is an issue with perhaps all of these forums, that is, the notification icons are not accurate and produce false indications. This is more of a core issue.

The improved features (eg additional moderation control) certainly make it better

I'm a fan of the IPB Message Board Module provided by bbpixel. With it, you solve several long term XOOPS problems and gain some nice features as well - all in one fair swoop!

The autologin (peeps being logged out while posting) is solved with it.

The View and Edit account side of it provides the peeps more features. (member photo posting, dump avatars in a folder and that's it, etc)

The inbox quota is spot on. No more worries about HUGE pm tables

You don't have to sort though emails about peeps having Zone Alarm or Norton.

And it's a type of Message Board that peeps are familiar with. It cuts down on the questions on how to and so on and get's them posting!

newbb_fileup looks like an interesting project, but I don't know if it would be the first thing that I would recommend for someone new to XOOPS. The instructions could be a lot better:

How to Install
**************
1.Backup all files about (/module/newbb) folder.
2.Extract these hack files. (/module)
3.Customize the fileup.ini.php, if you need some changes.
You should change the upload folder that is not in web path. It will be more secure.
4.Cerate thumbnail folder (/uploads/thumbs).
Done!

There are a heck of a lot of good mods and hacks on that site, though. They should publicize them more.
