Hi,

I'm very new to XOOPS, actuly I've just installed it, and I installed many modules(AMS, News, Polls, Contents, Topic Blocks) The installation was successful for all of them...

I've added some testing data in each, to see how it works, all work fine, except with topics block which appearsin the installed modules but is not linkable.

Now I want to make my site looks similar to xoops.org, orhttp://www.it-hq.org.

I want to set a welcome message in the frontpage, follwed by 4-6 articles divied into two columns, but I failed to do so.

Could you please tell me how can I do this? What modules should I install? What settings should I use??

Thanks alot in advance.

Clicking on the link you sent brings up a dead page. I hope you don't want your site to look like that. Is the link correct?

I believe it was this url you meant:http://www.it-hq.org/

(An extra fullstop on the url caused a bit of confusion then....)

I added a fullstop by mistake, sorry for that .

Thanks gestroud for welcoming me. And thanks davidl2 for finding the problem with the link.

For the welcome you just have to create your own custom block. Give access rights to all groups you want to see it.
Sorry, this signature is experiencing technical difficulties. We will return you to the sheduled signature as soon as possible ...

Are all of the topics set to be visible in the individual blocks?

I've rechecked on them and made sure that they are visible to all (Anonymous, registered, and webmasters). But still only the custom block appears and AMS articles are not.

Sorry, didn't explain properly.

Go into your administration section and click on "Blocks" and then "List All Blocks".

Then go to each of the blocks that you're having problems with and click "Edit". You'll find it on the right above "Delete."

Once the new page opens, check the setting there to ensure that the blocks are set to display the topics that you want visible.
