The case of the vanishing custom HTML blocks?!?!

Hi all

First of all welcome back to Xoops.org, once again the XOOPS team proved that no hacker can bring down this community!

Now onto my question...

I tried upgrading a test copy of my website from XOOPS 2.0.9 to 2.0.10 but on upgrade all of my custom HTML blocks vanished.

I continued the upgrade process to take it to 2.0.13 but the custom blocks are all still gone.

Anyone got any idea why they might have gone and what I could do to fix this?

How about deleting all files in /template_c and refreshing the modules in Module admin?

Yes, when you upgrade the system module, sometimes you lose your custom blocks. I had the same problem.

I used a backup of the DB and PHPMyAdmin to import the custom block content back into the DB

it was a little tricky but it worked fine.

make sure system_block_dummy.html is present and generated in your templates manager. especially if you use custom templates.

Thanks everyone

I checked in the templates area

system_block_dummy.html and system_block_online.html were missing. I found they were highlighted yellow on the template manager.

I updated the system module and then generated the two missing templates. All is now fine.

That looks like an easier solution than working directly with the DB!

I'll have to keep it in mind if it happens again.
