depends on the spec of server u require.

could range from $50 - $500 a month and more depending on what u use it for and what you need.

When checking, make sure that the server is managed. Most of the lower cost offering have next to no support at all without paying extra.

Surpass dedicated servers are fully managed, which to me makes them a very good deal.

You may want to look into 1and1 and HostingZoom. I have accounts with both providers and I am extremely pleased with the service I receive from both. Both offer a ton of features and the prices are reasonable too. Plus, both are very large companies with dedicated support staff. 1and1 has call centers all over the world.

Something that is often overlooked is network reliability. 1and1 and HostingZoom are both in the top 10 for network relaiability.

Hope this helps.

Take a look to this european provider:

SILVERBIRD-CONSULTING

It is a small provider but dedicated to the needs of their clients. I am a client since two years without any problems. The prices start at €49,90.

Thanks for all the replys (or is it replies)

Didn't realize there was so many options. Have you guys had any server load issues with XOOPS on a shared server? Just hate like heck to put up a live site and get that email from my host that the account is suspended. Would a semi-dedicated be another option? I only plan on the one site at this time.

Thanks

I haven't (because use own hosts), but heard a lor of times. And mostly it related to poor, ugly server's configuration.... XOOPS can create big load, but not for ordinary popular server, if all other done well

I haven't had any issues on HostingZoom or 1and1. Of course, the server admins at those companies know how to properly configure their servers.

Best Regards,

James
