agreed Marco They made a tough but wise decision which will have a huge impact on their project. They stood by their own principles which is very commendable. I wish Joomla the best too

Wait, so Mambos Dev team split off from Mambo and started their own CMS? Or are they just continuing to build on Mambo?

The Mambo devs split when the Mambo foundation was created and setup to grant Miro (parent company) control of development rather than the community. This was basically a pill that the Mambo community didn't want to swallow, so there was a very large scale split and Joomla was born. best of luck to them I say.

I've no idea how things at XOOPS are organized (even if XOOPS is as big as mambo/joomla) but could something like this ever happen to xoops?

On the subject of names, do you think a 'P' might find it's way into the 'Xoosphere' identity before it becomes widely advertised?

I get the 'sphere' bit, but what on earth is 'Xoo'?. It would be a shame to kill the widely respected XOOPS brand with this project.

XooSphere is the development codename for XOOPS4, and is based on Eric Raymonds excellent essay called 'navigating the Noosphere'. The X4 dev roadmap has the link to the refernce at the bottom.

So, no, it'll not get a P added
