A new bothersome issue has just recently started annoying members of our site.

It seems that once a member logs in, they will begin to navigate to different areas of the site. Most of our usage is in the forums section. If a user browses the forum area for just a few min...and either uses the back arrow or even clicks on a main menu link... it asks them to log in AGAIN. This can happen several times in one visit.

It has just started happening. HOWEVER I can not duplicated it for myself - I even created a new member for each group I have and tried - but it didnt effect me (from either home or office locations)

I originally thought maybe a group/permission thing - but I sorta ruled that out by creating new members for each group that I have. (Yes?)

Then I thought- "What have I done recently?" I installed the AMS module and turned of the XOOPS News Module. And turned off, in the Admin CP, the default index/home page and set it to "none". So I double checked the permissions and settings for this module both thru XOOPS and the module itself - all looks right.

I guess I am at a loss that might be causing users to re-login.

(I do not have custom sessions on.)
(I get no errors in any debug mode)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

it sounds like those users may have their http header referring blocked by their firewalls, this is particularly common with norton firewalls and zone alarm.. if they could add your site to their trusted sites section and enable http headers, this should solve their problem.

hmmm....didnt think of that.
I will let the first group back in (my admins- which first noted the issue) And see if they are using Nortons or similar and suggest your workaround

(I am on a mac - so I generally dont use that software...smile.)

Thanks!!

EDIT EDIT

Unfort...that DID NOT do the trick.

Users that dont use either program are also experiencing the log in issues. I tried on a PC computer with the programs and one PC without... the issue I DID have: If I closed a window, I would have to re-login to navigate to a specific area on the website. (Even tho i never logged out...and it was just seconds btwn switching windows.) I didnt see the issue with clicking on links or back arrow while still in the same window.

I dont know if that helps.

All feedback is welcome for this newbie!!!
